A new methodology for closed-form theoretical performance analysis of randomly-spread CDMA systems over multipath fading channels with multiuser receivers is presented. The basis of the analysis is the representation of the random signal to interference ratios at finite system parameters in terms of the eigenvalues of crosscorrelation matrices for which the non-asymptotic average densities are found or known, The methodology presented complements the asymptotic Ruining theory used in similar previous work over Gaussian/singlepath fading channels, but at finite system parameters and over multipath fading channels. One application of the method is demonstrated by spectral efficiency derivations with linear multiuser receivers.

Neural network method for direction of arrival estimation with uniform cylindrical microstrip patch array
Caylar, S.; Dural, G.; Leblebicioğlu, Mehmet Kemal (Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), 2010-02-01)
In this study, a new neural network algorithm is proposed for real-time multiple source tracking problem with cylindrical patch antenna array based on a previously reported Modified Neural Multiple Source Tracking (MN-MUST) algorithm. The proposed algorithm, namely cylindrical microstrip patch array modified neural multiple source tracking (CMN-MUST) algorithm implements MN-MUST algorithm on a cylindrical microstrip patch array structure. CMN-MUST algorithm uses the advantage of directive pattern of microst...
Design of Maisel sidelobe blankers with a guarantee on the gap to optimality
COŞKUN, Osman; Candan, Çağatay (Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), 2016-11-01)
The conventional sidelobe blanking system, known as the Maisel sidelobe blanker, uses two receiving channels with different gains to detect the presence of a jammer. The Maisel system is an ad-hoc detector without any optimality properties. Yet, it has been successfully utilised in numerous operational systems. Here, the authors study the optimum Neyman-Pearson type sidelobe blanking (SLB) detectors for the Swerling target models to assist the design of Maisel blankers. The authors note that the optimal sid...
Joint spatial and temporal channel-shortening techniques for frequency selective fading MIMO channels
Toker, Canan; Chambers, JA; Baykal, Buyurman (2005-02-01)
It is well understood that the maximum likelihood estimator is a powerful equalisation technique for frequency selective fading channels, and in particular for MIMO systems. The complexity of this estimator, however, grows exponentially with the number of users and multipath taps, hence limiting the use of this algorithm in MIMO systems. In the paper, the authors propose a joint spatial and temporal channel-shortening filter as a pre-processor to reduce significantly the complexity of a maximum likelihood e...
Active clamped ZVS forward converter with soft-switched synchronous rectifier for high efficiency, low output voltage applications
Acik, A; Cadirci, I (Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), 2003-03-01)
The analysis, design, and implementation of an active clamped ZVS forward converter equipped with a soft-switched synchronous rectifier (ACFC-SR), proposed for high-efficiency low output voltage DC-DC converter applications, is presented. The converter efficiency is maximised due to soft switching of the main, active clamp, synchronous rectifier, and freewheeling MOSFET switches. The operating principles of the ACFC-SR are analysed in detail, and the converter performance is compared with that of alternativ...
A New Approach to Investigation of the Relationship of VLF Signals by Using Longitudinal Analysis Models
Guzel, E.; Yaşar, M.; Kılıç, M. B.; Canyılmaz, M. (Hindawi Limited, 2013)
Longitudinal analysis models are applied to analyze very low frequency (VLF) electromagnetic waves signals. They are useful in realization of nuance of relationship between parameters of concern which change over time. VLF data are so important for the communication and determining the disturbances in the lower ionosphere. In this study, we used a four-day VLF signal data which come from transmitter stations located at two different countries to Elazi. g receiver system. A very important feature of this dat...
