Synthesis of a regular polymer containing pseudo-polyether cages

2005-04-20
A new compound consisting of 2-thienyl units linked by polyether bridge has been synthesized and its electrochemical polymerization was performed via constant potential electrolysis (CPE) in an electrolytic solution containing 0.1 M tetrabutylammonium hexafluorophosphate (TBAPF(6)) dissolved in CH3CN. Chemical polymerization was carried out using FeCl3 as oxidizing agent. It is found that both methods gave the same polymer product without any cleavage of the polyether bridge between thiophene (Th) rings. Although as synthesized polymers exhibited no conductivity, they gain conductivity via chemical doping using 12 vapor exposure. The polymers were characterized using FTIR spectroscopic technique and 12 doping was monitored using in-situ electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy. Thermal behavior of electrochemically prepared polymer was investigated using differential scanning calorimetry, DSC and thermogravimetric analysis, TGA.

Synthesis and characterization of conducting copolymers of succinic acid bis-(4-pyrrol-1-yl-phenyl) ester and their electrochromic properties
Ertas, M; Çırpan, Ali; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2004-05-07)
A new dipyrrolyl monomer was synthesized via the reaction between 4-pyrrol-1-yl phenol and butanedioyl dichloride. Electrochemical behavior of this monomer, succinic acid bis-(4-pyrrol-1-yl-phenyl) ester (SM) was studied. Homopolymerization was achieved by chemical and constant Current electrolysis methods. Copolymerization of SM with thiophene was performed by constant potential electrolysis in acetonitrile (AN)-tetrabutylammonium tetrafluoroborate (TBAFB) and dichloromethane (DCM)-TBAFB, solvent-electroly...

Sahin, Elif; Sahmetlioglu, Ertugrul; Akhmedov, Idris M.; Tanyeli, Cihangir; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2006-10-01)
A new polythiophene derivative was synthesized by both chemical and electrochemical oxidative polymerization of 1-(perfluorophenyl)-2,5-di(2-thienyl)-1H-pyrrole (FPTPy). The structures of both the monomer and the soluble polymer were elucidated by nuclear magnetic resonance (H-1-NMR) and fourier transform infrared (FTIR). Polymer of FPTPy was also synthesized via potentiostatic electrochemical polymerization in acetonitrile (AN)/NaClO4/LiClO4 (0.1 M:0.1 M) Solvent-electrolyte couple. Characterizations of th...

Poly(2-(N-pyrrolyl)ethylvinylether) (poly(2-NEVE)) was synthesized from poly(2-chloroethylvinylether) (poly(2-CEVE)) via phase catalysis reaction. Graft copolymers of PPy/poly(2-NEVE) were synthesized by electrochemical methods. The chemical structure of poly(2-NEVE) was investigated by several spectroscopic and thermal methods. Graft copolymers were characterized by means of FTIR, Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Thermal Gravimetry Analysis (TGA), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Conductivities ...
Preparation and characterization of zeolite framework stabilized cuprous oxide nanoparticles
Zahmakiran, Mehmet; Özkar, Saim (Elsevier BV, 2009-05-15)
Zeolite framework stabilized copper(I) oxide nanoparticles (4.8 +/- 2.6 nm) were prepared for the first time by using a four step procedure: the ion exchange of Cu(2+) ions with the extra framework Na(+) ions in Zeolite-Y, the reduction of the Cu(2+) ions within the cavities of zeolite with sodium borohydride in aqueous solution, the dehydration of Zeolite-Y with the copper(0) nanoclusters, and the oxidation of intrazeolite copper(0) nanoclusters by O(2) at room temperature. Zeolite stabilized copper(I) oxi...
Characterization of Ge nanocrystals embedded in SiO2 by Raman spectroscopy
Serincan, U; Kartopu, G; Guennes, A; Finstad, TG; Turan, Raşit; Ekinci, Y; Bayliss, SC (IOP Publishing, 2004-02-01)
Ge nanocrystals formed in a SiO2 matrix by ion implantation were studied by Raman spectroscopy. It is shown that Raman analysis based on the phonon confinement model yields a successful explanation of the peculiar characteristics resulting from the nanocrystals. A broadening and a shift in the Raman peak are expected to result from the reduced size of the crystals. Asymmetry in the peak is attributed to the variations in the size of the nanocrystals. These effects were observed experimentally for the Ge nan...
