EXPECTANCY OF LARGE PULSAR GLITCHES - A COMPARISON OF MODELS WITH THE OBSERVED GLITCH SAMPLE

We study the expectancy of large glitches (DELTAOMEGA/OMEGA > 10(-7)) from a sample of 430 pulsars other than the Vela pulsar. The pulsars in this sample have exhibited 19 large glitches. We assume that all pulsars experience such glitches, with rates that depend on the pulsar's rotation rate OMEGA and spin-down rate OMEGA, and on the glitch model. We use the core-quake model, and two variants of the superfluid vortex unpinning model, and choose model parameters such that the observed number of glitches is matched by the theoretically expected number. Among the models investigated, one of the superfluid vortex unpinning models gives good agreement with the observed distribution of glitches and with the parameter values deduced for the Vela pulsar glitches.

We investigate timing and spectral characteristics of the transient X-ray pulsar 2S 1417-624 during its 2018 outburst with NICER follow up observations. We describe the spectra with high-energy cut-off and partial covering fraction absorption (PCFA) model and present flux-dependent spectral changes of the source during the 2018 outburst. Post-glitch RXTE-PCA observations of the Vela pulsar

We report the results of analysis of observations of the Vela Pulsar by PCA on RXTE. Our data consists of two parts. The first part contains observations at 1, 4, and 9 days after the glitch in 1996 and has 27000 sec, total exposure time. The second part of observations were performed three months after this glitch and have a total exposure time of 93000 sec. We found pulsations in both sets. We present a timing analysis of X Persei (X Per) using observations made between 1998 and 2010 with the Proportional Counter Array (PCA) onboard the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) and with the INTEGRAL Soft Gamma-Ray Imager (ISGRI). All pulse arrival times obtained from the RXTE-PCA observations are phase-connected and a timing solution is obtained using these arrival times.
