The effects of Nb2O5 addition on (Bi, Pb)(2)Sr2Ca2Cu3O10 superconducting polycrystalline samples prepared by conventional solid state reaction method in bulk forms have been investigated. Samples were prepared and then characterized by X-ray diffraction, SEM microstructural analysis, DC electrical, and AC susceptibility measurements. X-ray diffraction analysis shows that both (Bi, Pb)-2223 and Bi-2212 phases coexist in the studied samples. I-V characterization and AC susceptibility measurements reveal that Nb addition increases critical current density. The enhancement of the J(c) may be caused by improvement of the grain connectivity with Nb additions.

Effect of hydrogen ion-exchange capacity on activity of resin catalysts in tert-amyl-ethyl-ether synthesis
Boz, N; Doğu, Timur; Murtezaoglu, K; Dogu, G (Elsevier BV, 2004-08-10)
Activities of ion-exchange resin catalysts, having different hydrogen exchange capacities ranging between 5.1 and 1.3 meq H+/g, on the etherification reactions of 2M1B (2-methyl-1-butene) and 2M2B (2-methyl-2-butene) with ethanol were experimentally tested in a fixed bed reactor. These catalysts were prepared by the heat treatment of Amberlyst-15 catalysts at 220 degreesC at different durations of time and also by the synthesis of sulfonated styrene divinyl benzene cross-linked resins. Activity of these cat...
Effects of pH, Initiator, Scavenger, and Surfactant on the Ozonation Mechanism of an Azo Dye (Acid Red-151) in a Batch Reactor
Oezbelge, Tuelay A.; Erol, Funda (Informa UK Limited, 2009-01-01)
In this study, an initiator (Fe2+) and a scavenger (CO32(-)) were used at different concentrations in a batch reactor to investigate the reaction mechanism of ozonation of a model azo dye, namely Acid Red-151 (AR-151). Also, the effect of a nonionic surfactant known as a major pollutant in many industrial wastewaters, namely polyethylene glycol (PEG), was observed on the degradation rate of AR-151. The experimental parameters and their ranges were: pH (2.5-10), initiator (0.8-50mg/L of Fe2+), surfactant (10...
Effect of silver encapsulation on the local structure of titanosilicate ETS-10
GALIOGLU, Sezin; ZAHMAKIRAN, Mehmet; Kalay, Yunus Eren; Özkar, Saim; Akata, Burcu (2012-09-01)
Silver(0) nanoparticles stabilized by titanosilicate (ETS-10) framework were synthesized by following a simple two step procedure involving the incorporation of silver(I) (Ag+) ions into ETS-10 matrix via ion-exchange with extra framework Na+ and K+ cations followed by their reduction with sodium borohydride (NaBH4) in aqueous medium all at room temperature. Silver(0) nanoparticles dispersed in the ETS-10 matrix were collected as gray powders and characterized by using advanced analytical methods including ...
Effects of Sorption Enhancement and Isobutene Formation on Etherification of Glycerol with tert-Butyl Alcohol in a Flow Reactor
Ozbay, Nalan; OKTAR, NURAY; DOĞU, GÜLŞEN; Doğu, Timur (2012-07-04)
In the presented work, liquid phase etherification reaction of glycerol (G) with tert-butyl alcohol (TBA) was investigated in a continuous flow reactor using Amberlyst-15 (A-15) as the catalyst. Some experiments were also repeated in a batch reactor at autogenous pressure. Effects of feed composition, reaction temperature (70-110 degrees C), and reaction pressure (1-5 bar) on the product distribution were investigated. When flow reactor pressure was reduced from S to 1 bar, enhanced glycerol conversion and ...
Effect of random copolymerization on the optical properties of selenophene and thieno[3,4-c]pyrrole-4,6-dione conjugated polymers
Yasa, Mustafa; UDUM, YASEMİN; Toppare, Levent Kamil (2022-07-01)
© 2022For the preparation of conjugated polymers having targeted band gaps, absorption, and optoelectronic properties, the Donor-Acceptor (D-A) approach has been one of the most convenient methods. We synthesized four new conjugated polymers, bearing selenophene and thieno[3,4-c]pyrrole-4,6-dione (TPD) for this study via Suzuki Stille Polycondensation. The effect of selenophene that was inserted as π-bridge and the introduction of a second TPD unit into the polymer backbones through random polymerization we...
