High energy planetary ball milling was applied to prepare sono-Fenton nanocatalyst from natural martite (NM). The NM samples were milled for 2-6 hat the speed of 320 rpm for production of various ball milled martite (BMM) samples. The catalytic performance of the BMMs was greater than the NM for treatment of Acid Blue 92 (AB92) in heterogeneous Sono: Fenton-like process. The NM and the BMM samples were characterized by XRD, FT-IR, SEM, EDX and BET analyses. The particle size distribution of the 6 h-milled martite (BMM3) was in the range of 10-90 nm, which had the highest surface area compared to the other samples. Then, the impact of main operational parameters was investigated on the process. Complete removal of the dye was obtained at the desired conditions including initial pH 7, 2.5 g/L BMM3 dosage, 10 mg/L AB92 concentration, and 150 W ultrasonic power after 30 min of treatment. The treatment process followed pseudo-first order kinetic. Environmentally-friendly modification of the NM, low leached iron amount and repeated application at milder pH were the significant benefits of the BMM3. The GC-MS was successfully used to identify the generated intermediates. Eventually, an artificial neural network (ANN) was applied to predict the AB92 removal efficiency based upon the experimental data with a proper correlation coefficient (R-2 = 0.9836).

Production of martite nanoparticles with high energy planetary ball milling for heterogeneous Fenton-like process
Rahmani, Amir; Khataee, Alireza; Kaymak, Barış; Vahid, Behrouz; Fathinia, Mehrangiz; Dindarsafa, Mahsa (2016-01-01)
Natural martite microparticles (NMMs) were prepared with a high energy planetary ball mill to form a nanocatalyst for a Fenton-like process. Martite nanoparticles (MNs) of different scales are formed when the milling time ranges from 1 to 5 h at the milling speed of 300 rpm. The catalytic performances of MNs are higher than the NMMs for the degradation of acid blue 5 (AB5) in a heterogeneous Fenton- like process. The NMMs and the MNs were characterized by SEM, EDX, BET, XRD and FT-IR analyses. The size dist...
Thermoluminescence characteristics of Bi 12 SiO 20 single crystals
Isik, M.; SARIGÜL, NESLİHAN; Hasanlı, Nızamı (Elsevier BV, 2020-08-01)
Trapping center properties of bismuth silicon oxide (Bi12SiO20) single crystals were investigated by thermoluminescence (TL) measurements performed in the 50–400 °C temperature range. Experimental TL curve recorded at heating rate of 1 °C/s presented two overlapped peaks around 279 and 362 °C. The heating rate dependency of TL curve was also studied for heating rates between 1 and 6 °C/s. The measured TL curves were analyzed using curve fitting, initial rise and different heating rate methods. The results o...
Optical properties of TlGa(SxSe1-x) 2 layered mixed crystals (0=x=1): Absorption edge and photoluminescence study at T=10 K
Hasanlı, Nızamı (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2018-09-01)
Transmittance measurements of layered mixed crystals were performed in the 1.80-2.80 eV photon energy range at . Band-gap energies of the studied crystals were estimated by means of the derivative spectra of transmittance and photon energy dependence of absorption coefficient. The compositional dependence of direct band-gap energy at revealed that as sulphur (selenium) composition is increased (decreased) in the mixed crystals, the direct band-gap energy increases from 2.19 eV () to 2.67 eV (). Photolumines...
Self-Assembled ZnO Nanosheet-Based Spherical Structure as Photoanode in Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells
Ameri, Mohsen; Raoufi, Meysam; Zamani-Meymian, M. -R.; Samavat, Feridoun; Fathollahi, M. -R.; Mohajerani, Ezeddin (2018-03-01)
High surface area and enhanced light scattering of ZnO nanosheet aggregates have made them a promising active layer candidate material for fabrication of nanostructure dye-sensitized solar cells. Here, we propose a facile preparation method of such ZnO nanosheet structures, and in order to verify their applicability as photoanode material for dye-sensitized solar cells, we employ morphological, optical, structural and electrical measurements. The results reveal the high surface area available for dye molecu...
TL and OSL studies on gallium sulfide (GaS) single crystals
Isik, M.; YÜKSEL, MEHMET; TOPAKSU, MUSTAFA; Hasanlı, Nızamı (Elsevier BV, 2020-09-01)
Gallium sulfide (GaS) single crystals were investigated using thermoluminescence (TL) and optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) measurements. TL experiments performed in the room temperature (RT)-450 °C range presented a glow curve consisting in six single discrete peaks. Analyses of TL glow curve by computerized glow curve deconvolution method showed that the trapping centers responsible for peaks are located at 0.98, 1.09, 1.15, 1.76, 1.87 and 1.90 eV. The order of kinetics found between 1 and 2 indicat...
