Synthesis of macromolecular catalyst systems and applications
Oğuzkaya, Funda; Tanyeli, Cihangir; Department of Chemistry (2011)
SYNTHESIS OF MACROMOLECULAR CATALYST SYSTEMS AND APPLICATIONS Oğuzkaya, Funda PhD., Department of Chemistry Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Cihangir Tanyeli September 2011, 144 pages The thesis mainly proposed to design macromolecular catalyst systems. Such catalysts should follow the way of "Green Chemistry" with including no metallic ions and have also the ability of reusability. Hence, nitroxide chemistry was chosen as the key point. Catalysts were synthesized with surely including TEMPO as the functional part as ...
Dynamic frictional contact problems involving elastic coatings
BALCI, MEHMET NURULLAH; Dağ, Serkan (Elsevier BV, 2018-08-01)
This paper presents a general theory of dynamic frictional contact of elastic coatings pressed against by a rigid punch moving with a constant speed. Governing equations of elastodynamics are solved by applying Galilean and Fourier transformations. The contact problem is then reduced to a singular integral equation, which is solved numerically. Developed procedures are verified through comparisons made to the available computational and analytical results. Parametric analyses illustrate the influences of pu...
Electronic and structural properties of armchair SWCNT/TiO2(110)-(1 x 2) system
Tayran, C.; ÇAKMAK, MELEK; Elliatioglu, S. (Elsevier BV, 2011-03-01)
We have presented structural and electronic properties of single-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) with armchair chirality on the reconstructed rutile TiO2(110)-(1 x 2) surface by means of ab initio calculations using density functional theory. For the TiO2 surface reconstruction, we have adopted an added-row model which was experimentally proposed in parallel to STM patterns and theoretically agreed by first principle calculations. In this work, we have studied, as examples, two CNTs with different sizes, (3,...
BIOACTIVITY OF APATITE-WOLLASTONITE GLASS-CERAMICS PRODUCED BY MELTING CASTING
PARK, JONGEE; Öztürk, Abdullah (World Scientific Pub Co Pte Lt, 2013-02-01)
Glass-ceramics containing only apatite and wollastonite crystals were produced in the system MgO-CaO-SiO2-P2O5-F by the melt casting process. The bioactivity of the glass-ceramics was determined by immersing the glass-ceramics in a simulated body fluid (SBF) and by assessing the resulting apatite formation on the free surface after various immersion durations. A 12-mu m-thick apatite layer formed on the surface of the glass-ceramic containing only apatite crystals after 20 days immersion in SBF. However, th...
Combined effects of ALS and SLS on Al2O3 reinforced composite nickel coatings
Yılmaz, Olgun; Karakaya, I. (Informa UK Limited, 2020-05-03)
The mechanical and tribological properties of electrochemical coatings can be enhanced by the embedded second phase particles to nickel matrix. Two different anionic surfactants sodium dodecyl sulfate and ammonium lignosulfonate were used together to adjust the wetting conditions and provide the suspension of Al2O3 particles in a nickel sulfamate electrolyte in this study. The effects of current density and amounts of the two surfactants on wear rate, coefficient of friction, and hardness were studied. It w...
