The mechanical and tribological properties of electrochemical coatings can be enhanced by the embedded second phase particles to nickel matrix. Two different anionic surfactants sodium dodecyl sulfate and ammonium lignosulfonate were used together to adjust the wetting conditions and provide the suspension of Al2O3 particles in a nickel sulfamate electrolyte in this study. The effects of current density and amounts of the two surfactants on wear rate, coefficient of friction, and hardness were studied. It was found that the amount of incorporated Al2O3 dominantly affected the properties of coatings which could be controlled by adjusting the operating parameters.

Effect of low-energy electron irradiation on (Bi, Pb)-2212 superconductors
Ogun, SE; Goktas, H; Ozkan, H; Hasanlı, Nızamı (Elsevier BV, 2005-06-22)
The effect of low-energy electron irradiation on the properties of the Bi-based superconductors is studied. Two sets of polycrystalline (Bi, Pb)-2212 samples were synthesized by heating the appropriate mixtures of powders at 840 degrees C for 100 h, then quenched or furnace cooled to room temperature. The samples were irradiated by low-energy (1-10 keV), pulsed (20 ns) electron beam up to a dose of 6.2 x 10(15) cm(-2). X- ray diffraction patterns, resistance-temperature behaviours, critical currents, and mi...
Evaluation of laser treatment on reline-base composites
Bolayir, Giray; Turgut, Mehmet; Hubbezoglu, Ihsan; Dogan, Orhan Murat; Keskin, Selda; Dogan, Arife; Bek, Buelent (Informa UK Limited, 2007-01-01)
The effects of different laser treatments on some mechanical properties of acrylic resin and soft liner were investigated. A total of 60 test specimens were fabricated according to test requirements. The specimens were roughened with Potassium-ticanyl-Phosphate (KTP), Er:YAG, and Nd:YAG lasers before application of soft liner. The flexural, peel, and tensile bond strengths were measured using a universal testing machine. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy with attenuated total reflectance (FTIR-ATR) sp...
Study of high radio frequency plasma discharge effects on carbon fiber using Raman spectroscopy
Akbar, D.; Erözbek Güngör, Ümmügül (Elsevier BV, 2014-02-15)
The goal of this research is to evaluate the potential of single and dual high RF reactors for the treatment of carbon fiber by Raman and FT-IR spectroscopies. Unsized poly-acrylonitrile (PAN) carbon fiber was treated with single high frequency (40.68 MHz) and double radio frequency capacitively coupled plasma (RF-CCP) discharge reactor (40.68/2.1 MHz) using pure nitrogen gas. The changes in the structure of the carbon fiber surfaces due to the variations of the D and G band intensity ratio (I-D/I-G), cryst...
Polysilicon thin films fabricated by solid phase crystallization using reformed crystallization annealing technique
Özmen, Özge Tüzün; Karaman, M.; Turan, Raşit (Elsevier BV, 2014-01-31)
In this work, a reformed crystallization annealing technique is presented for the solid phase crystallization (SPC) of amorphous silicon (a-Si) on SiNx-coated quartz substrate. This technique includes a two-step annealing process which consists of a low-temperature (475 degrees C) classical furnace annealing for nucleation of Si and a high-temperature (900 degrees C) grain growth process of polycrystalline silicon (poly-Si) during thermal annealing in classical tube furnace. The aim of this reformed two-ste...
Dynamic mechanical properties of dental base material reinforced with glass fiber
Karacaer, O; Dogan, A; Dogan, OM; Usanmaz, Ali (Wiley, 2002-08-22)
Dynamic mechanical properties of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) reinforced with glass fibers were investigated. The composite used as dental base material contained other additives for different purposes to give the same appearance as natural dentals. The fiber-polymer bonding and orientation of fibers in polymer matrix are very important in the application of the product. To see that, the fibers were treated with silane and compared with untreated fibers. The commercial polymer and monomer used were the ...
