Bioinformatic analyses in microsatellite-based genetic diversity of Turkish sheep breeds
Acar, Hande; Togan, İnci Zehra; Department of Bioinformatics (2010)
In the present study, within and among breed genetic diversity in thirteen Turkish sheep breeds (Sakız, Karagül, Hemşin, Çine Çaparı, Norduz, Herik, Akkaraman, Dağlıç, Gökçeada, İvesi, Karayaka, Kıvırcık and Morkaraman; in total represented by 628 individuals) were analyzed based on 20 microsatellite loci. Loci were amplified by Polymerase Chain Reactions and products were electronically recorded and converted into [628 x 20] matrix representing genotypes of individuals. Reliability of the genotyping and ge...
SMALL DOSES OF MORPHINE AND INTAKE OF WATER
AKKOK, F; CZIRR, SA; REID, LD (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 1988-11-01)
Rats deprived of water for 19 h were given an opportunity to drink water for 30 min and for another 4.5 h. Prior to drinking, rats were injected with saline or morphine (1.0 mg/kg) to test whether morphine’s effects persisted when given day after day. Surprisingly, we did not observe that morphine enhanced drinking. Subsequently, when rats were deprived of water for 23.5 h, morphine still did not increase intake. When we continued testing, with a demonstration replicating an experiment in which morphine inc...
Coke Minimization in Dry Reforming of Methane by Ni Based Mesoporous Alumina Catalysts Synthesized Following Different Routes: Effects of W and Mg
ARBAĞ, HÜSEYİN; YAŞYERLİ, SENA; YAŞYERLİ, NAİL; Doğu, Timur; DOĞU, GÜLŞEN (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2013-12-01)
Ni based mesoporous alumina (MA) catalysts were synthesized by sol-gel (SGA) and hydrothermal (MA) methods, following impregnation and one-pot synthesis routes and catalytic performances of these materials were tested in dry reforming of methane. Results proved the importance of synthesis procedure of the MA supports on the activity and coke resistance of the synthesized materials, containing 16 % Ni. Among these catalysts, MA prepared by the sol-gel technique (Ni@SGA) showed the highest activity in dry ref...
Strategic constructions of national identity by political leaders in Turkey
Okuyan, Mukadder; Cingöz Ulu, Banu; Department of Psychology (2012)
The present study examines how political party leaders in Turkey strategically construct boundaries of the Turkish nation, which norms they attribute to it, and the prototypicality claims of these party leaders regarding the nation. Leaders’ national identity constructions are expected to be in line with their parties’ collective projects and serve to increase their claims of representativeness in the eyes of the electorate. A secod aim of the study is to inquire leaders’ attempts in rhetorically including ...
Selective oxidation of propylene to propylene oxide using combinatorial methodologies
Miyazaki, T; Ozturk, S; Onal, I; Senkan, S (Elsevier BV, 2003-06-30)
Direct oxidation of propylene by oxygen to propylene oxide (PO) has been studied through the application of the techniques of combinatorial catalysis. Catalytic materials containing single and binary metal components were prepared by impregnating standard gamma-Al2O3 pellets. In the first stage, 34 single component catalytic materials at three different metal loading levels were prepared and screened for PO activity and selectivity using array channel microreactors and mass spectrometry. Experiments were co...
