In this work, design of non-uniform MTI filter for staggered MTI Radar systems is presented in the sense of min-max filter design. Corresponding design is studied to obtain the nearest improvement factor to the optimum MTI filter improvement factor. The performance of the design is examined with simulations and a detailed comparison with the non-uniform MTI filters in the literature is given.

Least Square and Min-Max Design of MTI Filters With Nonuniform Interpulse Periods
ISPIR, Mehmet; Candan, Çağatay (2013-05-03)
The design of moving target indicator (MTI) filters with nonuniform interpulse periods is studied through the least square and min-max filter design methodologies. A trade-off between the contradictory objectives of maximum possible clutter suppression (maximum stopband attenuation) and minimum desired signal attenuation (minimum passband ripple) is established by the introduction of a weight factor into the design. The weight factor enables the adaptation of MTI filters to different operational scenarios s...
IMPLEMENTATION OF MATCH FILTERS AS IP CORE FOR SONAR APPLICATIONS
Karabalkan, Melike Atay; Oner, Mehmet (2015-05-19)
Matched Filtering is an important part of the radar and sonar systems. Implementation of match filtering in time or frequency domain can be more advantageous due to bandwidth constraints. Another important part in match filtering is unwanted sidelobes. These sidelobes can be detected as a main part of another signal and it can be misleading. In literature, lots of methods have been proposed to reduce sidelobes. Each method has advantages and disadvantages regarding resource usage and speed. In this work, ma...
Construction of an experimental radar system
Kılıçoğlu, Nezaket; Koç, Seyit Sencer; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2010)
In this thesis, an Experimental Radar System is designed and constructed for use in experimental radar studies such as clutter measurement and target detection, both in the laboratory and outdoor. COTS laboratory equipments are utilized as hardware elements of the radar and MATLAB is used as signal processing and user interface software tool. Vector signal generator (as transmitter), spectrum analyzer with vector signal analysis (as receiver), a high power amplifier, a low noise amplifier, horn antennas and...
Radar cross section analysis by shooting and bouncing rays method
Çakır, Mustafa Kağan; Tokdemir, Turgut; Department of Engineering Sciences (2015)
In this study, a MATLAB code incorporating `Shooting and Bouncing Rays (SBR) Method` is developed for calculating Radar Cross Section (RCS) of complex shapes. The code can calculate ray paths, magnetic current sheets, incident and scattered electric fields and RCS in horizontal, vertical and cross polarizations. While reflection effects are calculated by SBR algorithm, diffraction effects due to edges and corners are handled by `Equivalent Edge Currents (EEC’s)`. Wave frequency, aspect angle and number of r...
Efficient Methods of Doppler Processing for Coexisting Land and Weather Clutter
Candan, Çağatay; Yılmaz, Ali Özgür (2008-05-30)
The joint suppression of returns from land and weather clutter is required in many radar applications. Although the optimal method of land-weather clutter suppression is known, the solution is usually not practical to implement. In this paper, we propose a method that employs rank-1 and rank-2 approximations on the weather clutter correlation matrix to obtain suboptimal but simpler detectors which are easier to implement. The performance of the proposed detectors is compared with the optimal detector and so...
