Modulation of internal charge transfer (ICT) in a bay region hydroxylated perylenediimide (PDI) chromophore: a chromogenic chemosensor for pH
Yukruk, F; Akkaya, EU (Elsevier BV, 2005-08-29)
A novel perylenediimide derivative which has a bay region hydroxyl function behaves as a pH-sensitive dye. The deprotonation of the aryl-OH yields a green solution with a lambda(max) x of 692 nm and this deprotonated form has strong internal charge transfer characteristics. On reprotonation in acidic solutions, the typical PDI absorbance spectrum is restored. The experimentally determined pK(a) (7.45) is very close to physiological pH, therefore the most significant changes in color take place in the vicini...
Modulations of drug metabolizing enzymes by in vivo treatment of epilobium hirsutum extract in rat

MODULATION OF CYTOCHROME P450s AND ANTIOXIDANT ENZYMES BY CAFFEIC ACID, p-COUMARIC ACID AND QUERCETIN-RICH ANATOLIAN PROPOLIS IN HUMAN ADENOCARCINOMA HT-29 CELLS
ALTAY, AHMET; İrtem Kartal, Deniz; Sagdicoglu-Celep, Gulcin; Güray, Nülüfer Tülün; Bozoglu, Faruk (2018-01-01)
Propolis, which is a complex resinous material has diverse pharmacological and biological properties. Phase I and II enzymes are responsible for detoxication and elimination of activated carcinogens, acting as important biomarkers for chemoprevention. Among them, cytochrome P450s plays a prominent role in metabolic activation of xenobiotics. This study was designed to investigate the in vitro modulatory effects of Anatolian propolis and its phenolic contents; caffeic acid, quercetin and p-coumaric acid on t...
Modulation of Matrix Softness and Interstitial Flow for 3D Cell Culture Using a Cell-Microenvironment-on-a-Chip System
Clay, Nicholas Edwin; Shin, Kyeonggon; Özçelikkale, Altuğ; Lee, Min Kyung; Rich, Max H.; Kim, Dong Hyun; Han, Bumsoo; Kong, Hyunjoon (2016-11-01)
In the past several decades, significant efforts have been devoted to recapitulating the in vivo tissue microenvironment within an in vitro platform. However, it is still challenging to recreate de novo tissue with physiologically relevant matrix properties and fluid flow. To this end, this study demonstrates a method to independently tailor matrix stiffness and interstitial fluid flow using a cell-microenvironment-on-a-chip (CMOC) platform. Collagen-polyethylene glycol gels tailored to present controlled s...
