Ruthenium nanoparticles supported on nanotubes/nanowires: highly active and long lived nanocatalysts in hydrolytic dehydrogenation of ammonia borane /
Akbayrak, Serdar; Özkar, Saim; Department of Chemistry (2016)
Ammonia borane (NH3BH3, AB) is one of the most promising solid hydrogen storage materials due to its high hydrogen storage capacity (19.6% wt.), non-toxicity and high stability under ambient conditions. Ammonia borane can release hydrogen upon hydrolysis in the presence of suitable catalysts even at room temperature. Although a large variety of catalysts have been tested in hydrogen generation from the hydrolysis of ammonia borane, the development of efficient, long-lived, reusable catalysts is still an imp...
Ruthenium(III) acetylacetonate as catalyst precursor in the dehydrogenation of dimethylamine-borane
Ünel, Ebru; Özkar, Saim; Department of Chemistry (2011)
Amine boranes have recently been considered as solid hydrogen storage materials with high capability of hydrogen storage. Dimethylamine borane is one of the promising amine boranes with high theoretical gravimetric capacity of 16.9 wt%. Dimethylamine borane can undergo dehydrogenation only in the presence of a suitable catalyst at moderate temperature. In this project, throughout the dehydrogenation of dimethylamine borane (DMAB), the catalytic activity of ruthenium(III) acetylacetonate was examined for the...
Ruthenium(0) nanoparticles supported on silica coated Fe3O4 as magnetically separable catalysts for hydrolytic dehydrogenation of ammonia borane
Sarica, Esra; AKBAYRAK, SERDAR; Özkar, Saim (Elsevier BV, 2018-08-09)
Ruthenium(0) nanoparticles supported on bare or silica-coated magnetite are prepared by impregnation of ruthenium(III) ions followed by their reduction with aqueous solution of sodium borohydride on the surface of support. These magnetically isolable catalysts are used in hydrogen generation from the hydrolysis of ammonia borane at room temperature. They conserve their initial catalytic activity even after the fifth reuse in the hydrolysis reaction, Ruthenium(0) nanoparticles supported on bare magnetite and...
Ruthenium(0) nanoparticles supported on xonotlite nanowire: a long-lived catalyst for hydrolytic dehydrogenation of ammonia-borane
Akbayrak, Serdar; Özkar, Saim (Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), 2014-01-01)
Ruthenium(0) nanoparticles supported on xonotlite nanowire (Ru(0)@X-NW) were prepared by the ion exchange of Ru3+ ions with Ca2+ ions in the lattice of xonotlite nanowire followed by their reduction with sodium borohydride in aqueous solution at room temperature. Ru(0)@X-NW were characterized by a combination of advanced analytical techniques. The results show that (i) highly dispersed ruthenium(0) nanoparticles of 4.4 +/- 0.4 nm size were formed on the surface of xonotlite nanowire, (ii) Ru(0)@X-NW show hi...
