Examination of the coping processes of caregivers of children with cancer
Demirtepe Saygılı, Dilek; Bozo Özen, Özlem; Department of Psychology (2013)
The general aim of the present dissertation was to examine the coping processes of the caregivers of children with cancer. It was composed of three studies, whose aims were (1) to reveal the predictors of caregiver distress by using the Transactional Theory of Coping among the caregivers of children with cancer; (2) to identify the factors associated with caregiving process from the caregiver’s perspective qualitatively; (3) to develop and implement an intervention program. Study 1 was conducted with 105 pa...
Alternative forms of internationalization: the case of Iran
Sune, Engin; Altunışık, Meliha; Department of International Relations (2018)
This thesis analyzes different forms of internationalizations by concentranting on the theoretical discussions on the internationalization of capital and the state. With the examination of the political economic structures in the Islamic Republic of Iran and the development of alternative mechanisms in different moments of its integration into the international capitalist system, the study analyzes the triggers that generate varieties in the forms of integration. The research on the political and economic s...
Expression analysis of NAC type transcription factors on wheat seedlings under abiotic stress conditions
Baloğlu, Mehmet Cengiz; Yücel, Ayşe Meral; Öktem, Hüseyin Avni; Department of Biology (2011)
Wheat is the most important grain crop grown in our country providing greatest part of the daily nutritional requirement. Abiotic factors including salinity, drought, cold and heat stresses affect quality and yield of wheat varieties used for the production of both bread and pasta flour. NAC proteins form one of the widest families of plant specific transcription factors. Members of this family are related with development, defense and abiotic stress responses. TaNAC69-1 and TtNAM-B2 genes were isolated fro...
In vivo indentation of lower extremity limb soft tissues
Silver-thorn, M.b.; Tönük, Ergin; Kemp, J. (1999-12-01)
In vivo rate-controlled indentation tests, force relaxation trials, and creep studies were conducted on the soft tissues of the residual limbs of individuals with trans-tibial amputation. The cyclic indentation tests indicated that the bulk soft tissue response to compressive load is nonlinear and rate-dependent. The force relaxation studies indicated that substantial relaxation (35-80%) may occur, with equilibration typically occurring in less than 60 seconds. Most of this relaxation (20-70%) occurred with...
Investigaton of chemopreventive properties of Urtica Dioica L., in MCF-7 and MDA231 breast cancer cell lines
Güler, Elif; İşcan, Mesude; Department of Biology (2011)
Cancer is a major health problem in developing world with mostly unsufficient treatment. Cancer prevention through dietary modification appears to be a practical and cost effective possibility. The aim of present study is to investigate the chemical components of “Urtica diocia,L (U. diocia) grown in Turkey” and the possible protective potential of its aqueous extract against breast cancer cell lines. U. diocia was extracted by maceration method which was performed for 6,12, 24, and 36 hours, at 50°C, 37°C,...
