The polymerization of phenylisocyanate in bulk and in solution of THF by complex base (CB), NaNH2/(CH3)(3)CONa catalyst under vacuum was previously reported. The polymer obtained was fractionated by washing and extracted with different solvents. Polymer fractions were shown to be highly crystalline by X-ray analysis. Different fractions have similar crystalline structure with some modifications in cell parameters of primitive monoclinic unit cell. Mass spectral analysis gave valuable information for the chain structure and polymerization mechanism of polyphenylisocyanate. The evolution of NH2- and NH3 at low temperature and early stage by pyrolysis showed the chain-ending with -NH2. This is an indication of initiation by NH2- in complex base catalyst. The polymer does not contain large amounts of dimer and trimer when polymerized by this catalyst.

Effect of N-methyl imidazole and dimethyl pyrazole ligands on polymerization of di(2,4,6-trichlorophenolato)Cu(II)/Co(II) complexes in solid state
Kisakurek, D (Informa UK Limited, 2004-08-01)
Polymerization of 2,4,6-trichlorophenol (TCPH) was achieved through the thermal decomposition of the copper and cobalt complexes of TCPH with N-containing ligands [N-methyl imidazole (NMIz) and 3,5-dimethyl pyrazole (DMPz)). The structural analysis of the complexes was performed by using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), mass (MS), UV-VIS, diffuse reflectance (DRS) and electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopies, magnetic susceptibility balance and elemental analys...
Synthesis and Characterization of Conducting Copolymers of Bisphenol A-Diglycidyl Ether with Thiophene Side-Groups and Pyrrole
Sahmetlioglu, Ertugrul; Varol, Ramazan; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Yuruk, Huseyin (Informa UK Limited, 2009-01-01)
Copolymers of bisphenol A-diglycidyl ether with thiophene side-groups and pyrrole were synthesized by electrochemical polymerization. Bisphenol A-diglycidyl ether with thiophene side-groups (DGEBATh) was obtained from the reaction between bisphenol A-diglycidyl ether (DGEBA) and thiophene-3-acetic acid. The syntheses of copolymers of DGEBATh and pyrrole were achieved electrochemically using three different supporting electrolytes, p-toluene sulfonic acid (PTSA), sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and tetrabutylam...
X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy study on the photodegradation of copolyester model compounds
Arangdad, Kiarash; Yıldırım, Erol; Detwiler, Andrew; Cleven, Curtis D.; Burk, Christopher; Shamey, Renzo; Pasquinelli, Melissa A.; Freeman, Harold; El-Shafei, Ahmed (Wiley, 2020-07-01)
The photodegradation of irradiated PETG and PCCT model compounds namely Tm-CHDM-Tm and Tm-TMCD-Tm, where Tm refers to the methyl ester of terephthalic acid, CHDM refers to 1, 4-cyclohexanedimethanol, and TMCD refers to tetramethyl-1, 3-cyclobutanediol, was analyzed using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Photodegradation products were characterized based on high resolution O(1s)x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) spectra and the spectra of irradiated model compounds showed a decrease in the relative inte...
Synthesis, characterization, and electrochromic properties of conducting copolymers of 2-[(3-thienylcarbonyl)oxy]ethyl 3-thiophene carboxylate with thiophene and pyrrole
Bulut, U; Alkan, S; Yilmaz, F; Yagci, Y; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Informa UK Limited, 2004-07-01)
2-[(3-Thienylcarbonyl)oxy]ethyl 3-thiophene carboxylate (TOET) was synthesized via the reaction of 3-thionylcarboxylic acid with ethylene glycol, and electrochemically polymerized with thiophene (Th) and pyrrole (Py) by using tetrabutylannnonium tetrafluoroborate (TBAFB) as the supporting electrolyte in acetonitrile (ACN). Characterization of the resulting copolymers were performed via cyclic voltammetry, FTIR, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Electrical conductivities are measured by the four-probe ...
PHASE-RELATIONS IN THE SYSTEM CE2O3-AL2O3 IN INERT AND REDUCING ATMOSPHERES
TAS, AC; AKINC, M (Wiley, 1994-11-01)
The 1:1 compound, CeAlO3, in the system Ce2O3-Al2O3 has been synthesized from the oxides and shown to have a perovskite-like tetragonal unit cell with the lattice parameters a = 3.763 and c = 3.792 Angstrom. A new XRD pattern is suggested for CeAlO3. This compound is shown to be stable up to 1950 degrees C. The 1:11 compound, CeAl11O18, has also been synthesized and shown to possess a magnetoplumbite-like hexagonal unit cell with the lattice parameters a = 5.558 and c = 22.012 Angstrom. An XRD pattern is su...
