The propagation characteristics of radio signals are important parameters to consider when designing and operating radio systems. From the point of view Working Group 2 of the COST 296 Action, interest lies with effects associated with propagation via the ionosphere of signals within the HF band. Several aspects are covered in this paper:

Design of miniaturized ku band narrowband cavity filter
Sevinç, Yusuf; Demir, Şimşek; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2018)
Frequency multiplexer structures are of a crucial role as an essential part of huge variety of communication systems including, satellite-communication systems, wireless communication systems and radio transmission. They are indispensable multiple port components that are used for combination and separation of specific signals or frequency bandwidths selectively from a single signal or frequency bandwidth in multiport communication system. The main blocks that form a multiplexer are a set of filters, named ...
Effects and characterisations of pulse electrodeposition parameters of silver in terms of scattering parameter and surface roughness for waveguides operating at high frequencies
Başaran, Caner; Karakaya, İshak (2021-01-01)
The signal quality of antennas and waveguides in the transmission of electromagnetic waves are very much dependent on the surface finish of these devices. Effects of pulse parameters on the surface properties of silver coatings of the copper substrates have been analysed in terms of surface roughness and S-parameter (scattering parameter). The duty cycle, frequency and average current density were used as three pulse parameters. Three levels were selected for each parameter in the experimental design. The s...
Improving operational performance of antennas on complex platforms by arranging their placements
Bayseferoğulları, Can; Dural Ünver, Mevlüde Gülbin; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2010)
The aim of this thesis is to improve the operational performance of the communication antennas mounted on complex platforms such as aircrafts and warships by arranging placements of these antennas. Towards this aim, primarily, in order to gain insight on the influence of geometrically simple structures composing the platform on antenna performance, a quarter wavelength monopole antenna placed at the center of a finite square ground plane is studied by using uniform Geometrical Theory of Diffraction (GTD). B...
MODELING OF GAN POWER TRANSISTOR PACKAGE FOR DESIGN OF BROADBAND HIGH-POWER AMPLIFIER
Baştüzel Çakmak, Özlem; Durgun, Ahmet Cemal; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2022-2-9)
Radio frequency (RF) power amplifiers (PAs) are the most crucial part for the development of high performance front-end RF and microwave systems. Power transistor is the key component of a power amplifier, which should be accurately modeled to provide good correlation between simulation and measurement results. Bare die transistor needs to be packaged, before attaching on printed circuit boards (PCBs) to provide protection, easy fabrication and prevent mechanical issues. In recent years, Gallium Nitride (Ga...
Theoretical investigation and design of wideband dielectric resonator antennas
Yüksel, Yılmaz Çağrı; Alatan, Lale; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2015)
The aim of this thesis is to utilize Dielectric Resonator Antennas (DRA) as array elements due to their advantages over other conventional antenna elements such as dipoles and microstrip patches. Depending on both the excitation mechanisms and the antenna shape, a Dielectric Resonator Antenna (DRA) provides its designer multiple independent degrees of freedom. In this thesis three antenna shapes, namely hemispherical, cylindrical and rectangular DRAs, are investigated. The cylindrical and the rectangular sh...
