We report on a simple, robust, femtosecond chirped-pulse-amplification system, based on Er-and Er-Yb-doped fibers, operating at a central wavelength of 1555 nm. The entire system is constructed from commercially available fiber components, except the grating compressor, for easy duplication by other researchers. The laser system produces chirped pulses with up to 4 mu J of pulse energy at 250 kHz. After dechirping, the pulse duration is 410 fs and the pulse energy is reduced to 2 mu J. The repetition rate of the laser is electronically tunable between 125 kHz and 60 MHz, limited by strong amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) generation at the low end. The amplifier system is almost completely fiber integrated, except for the pump delivery into the final amplifier stage, which is free-space backward-pumped to reduce undesired nonlinear effects, and the compressor which was designed using the gratings. The laser is practically free of misalignment and has exhibited excellent long-term stability during its use in various experiments for more than 600 working hours.

Model Based Optimization of Integrated Low Voltage DC-DC Converter for Energy Harvesting Applications
Jayaweera, H. M. P. C.; Muhtaroglu, Ali (2016-12-09)
A novel model based methodology is presented to determine optimal device parameters for the fully integrated ultra low voltage DC-DC converter for energy harvesting applications. The proposed model feasibly contributes to determine the maximum efficient number of charge pump stages to fulfill the voltage requirement of the energy harvester application. The proposed DC-DC converter based power consumption model enables the analytical derivation of the charge pump efficiency when utilized simultaneously with ...
Measurement of the Top Quark Pair Production Cross Section in Proton-Proton Collisions at root s=13 TeV
Khachatryan, V.; et. al. (American Physical Society (APS), 2016-02-01)
The top quark pair production cross section is measured for the first time in proton-proton collisions at root s = 13 TeV by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC, using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 43 pb(-1). The measurement is performed by analyzing events with at least one electron and one muon of opposite charge, and at least two jets. The measured cross section is 746 +/- 58(stat) +/- 53(syst) +/- 36(lumi) pb, in agreement with the expectation from the standard model.
Calculation of the Raman frequencies of lattice modes in the disordered phase II of NH4Br at high pressures
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (Physics Essays Publication, 2010-01-01)
The Raman frequencies are calculated here at various temperatures for the nu(7) (56 cm(-1)) and nu(5) (134 cm(-1)) lattice modes in the disordered phase II of NH4Br. The lattice parameter data obtained at zero pressure are used to calculate the Raman frequencies of those modes studied for constant pressures of 0.1, 108, and 637.5 MPa in phase II of the NH4Br crystal. Through the mode Gruumlneisen parameter which is kept constant in the disordered phase II, the Raman frequencies calculated decrease linearly ...
Measurement of the triple-differential dijet cross section in proton-proton collisions at root s=8 TeV and constraints on parton distribution functions
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2017-11-01)
A measurement is presented of the triple-differential dijet cross section at a centre-of-mass energy of 8 TeV using 19.7 fb(-1) of data collected with the CMS detector in proton-proton collisions at the LHC. The cross section is measured as a function of the average transverse momentum, half the rapidity separation, and the boost of the two leading jets in the event. The cross section is corrected for detector effects and compared to calculations in perturbative quantum chromodynamics at next-to-leading ord...
Measurement of the inclusive 3-jet production differential cross section in proton-proton collisions at 7 TeV and determination of the strong coupling constant in the TeV range
Khachatryan, V.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2015-05-01)
This paper presents a measurement of the inclusive 3-jet production differential cross section at a proton-proton centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5 fb(-1) collected with the CMS detector. The analysis is based on the three jets with the highest transverse momenta. The cross section is measured as a function of the invariant mass of the three jets in a range of 445-3270 GeV and in two bins of the maximum rapidity of the jets up to a value of 2. A compari...
