This paper presents an overview of a proposed framework for improving the quality of conceptual models developed in notations derived from UML. To this aim, wellness properties of a UML model are described shortly. Through a case study, we show that an ad hoc inspection process in accordance with this framework can be defined and performed depending on the conceptual modeling notation and typical real models. This study showed us that the application of the defined inspection process, which adopts concepts and properties available for formally defined notations, revealed many non trivial fallacies in models especially in derived activity diagrams.

An inspection approach for conceptual models of the mission space in a domain specific notation
Tanrıöver, Ö. Özgür; Bilgen, Semih; Department of Information Systems (2008)
An inspection approach is proposed for improving the quality of conceptual models developed in a domain specific notation. First, the process of identification of desirable properties of conceptual models in a domain specific notation is described. Intra- and interview properties are considered. Semantic properties are defined considering the conceptual modeling notation. A systematic inspection process is proposed for checking semantic properties of different types of diagrams and of the relations between ...
An Approach to manage variability in object-oriented applications with feature models
Bulut, Ender; Şener, Cevat; Department of Computer Engineering (2014)
In this thesis, an approach to manage variability in object-oriented applications by using a feature modeling language and a simple source code generation technique has been designed and developed. This approach provides developing configurable object oriented applications in a practical way. That is, an application developed with our approach takes just a configuration file including user selections in a pre-defined domain as input and then automatically configure and manage itself with respect to these se...
A Display Processing Software Application Framework for Mission Computer Systems
Kilinc, Ismail; Gezici, Görkem; Er, Emre; Baykal, Buyurman (2009-09-16)
This paper describes a framework for display processing applications in C4ISR systems and discusses Havelsan's approach. Mission Computers in C4ISR systems need a framework for both mission processing and display processing applications to enhance productivity and robustness. Each framework has its own requirements and challenges. Our goal is to provide a general display processing framework for all kinds of mission computer applications.
A neuro-fuzzy MAR algorithm for temporal rule-based systems
Sisman, NA; Alpaslan, Ferda Nur; Akman, V (1999-08-04)
This paper introduces a new neuro-fuzzy model for constructing a knowledge base of temporal fuzzy rules obtained by the Multivariate Autoregressive (MAR) algorithm. The model described contains two main parts, one for fuzzy-rule extraction and one for the storage of extracted rules. The fuzzy rules are obtained from time series data using the MAR algorithm. Time-series analysis basically deals with tabular data. It interprets the data obtained for making inferences about future behavior of the variables. Fu...
A generative model for multi class object recognition and detection
Ulusoy, İlkay (2006-01-01)
In this study, a generative type probabilistic model is proposed for object recognition. This model is trained by weakly labelled images and performs classification and detection at the same time. When test on highly challenging data sets, the model performs good for both tasks (classification and detection).
