Recent advances in the synthesis of fused heterocycles with new skeletons via alkyne cyclization
Balcı, Metin (Elsevier BV, 2020-06-11)
An account of our most recent developments on the synthesis of various fused heterocycles via alkyne cyclization is presented. The synthetic strategy involves N- or O-propargylation of heteroaromatic or aromatic compounds followed by intramolecular gold-catalyzed or NaH-promoted intramolecular cyclization reactions. This synthetic strategy represents a reasonable methodology for the construction of hitherto unknown skeletons.
Oligomeric ethylene glycols as sorting tags for parallel and combinatorial mixture synthesis
Wilcox, CS; Türkyılmaz, Serhan (Elsevier BV, 2005-03-14)
Sorting tags for chromatography allow mixtures of substrates to be carried through parallel chemical processes and then separated. The first sorting tags were fluorocarbons. An enabling characteristic of fluorous sorting tags is the predictable incremental increase in retention time with increasing fluorocarbon chain length. Here we describe a general approach to sorting tags and report our discovery of a second class of chromatographic tags. The new tags are oligomeric ethylene glycol (OEG) derivatives.
Chemosensing in deep red: A squaraine-based fluorescent chemosensor for pH.
Isgor, YG; Akkaya, EU (Elsevier BV, 1997-10-20)
We have synthesized and spectrally characterized a squaraine-based fluorescent chemosensor for pH. This chemosensor unlike many others, works in 100 % aqueous solutions, signalling the pH change from 10 to 7 by a 11-fold increase in the emission intensity at 651 nm, when excited at the isosbestic point (614 nm). The average pK(a) for the ionizable groups is found to be 8.8. The chemosensor with its molar extinction coefficient > 200,000 and the quantum yield of 0.2, yield an impressive intrinsic brightness ...
Reinvestigation of the synthetic and mechanistic aspects of Mn(III) acetate mediated oxidation of enones
Demir, Ayhan Sıtkı; Reis, O; Igdir, AC (Elsevier BV, 2004-04-05)
Mn(OAc)(3) mediated alpha'-acetoxylation of alpha,beta-unsaturated enones is reinvestigated from a synthetic and mechanistic point of view and an improved procedure based on the use of acetic acid as a co-solvent is presented. Excellent results were obtained for a variety of structurally diverse and synthetically important enones under the optimized conditions.
Indium triflate-catalyzed coupling of indoles with acyl phosphonates: synthesis of bis(indolyl)methane phosphonates
Dasbasi, Teslima; Polat-Cakir, Sidika; Abdullah, Meysun; Demir, Ayhan Sıtkı (Elsevier BV, 2011-05-13)
The coupling reaction of N-methylindole with alkyl and aryl phosphonate is described. The reaction works in the presence of 10 mol % of indium triflate and furnished bis(indolyl)methane phosphonates in good yield and high selectivity.
