Analysis of the frequency shifts close to the second order phase transition in NH4Cl

2001-03-01
In this study we analyzed observed Raman data for the frequencies of the disorder-induced modes of v(7) (93 cm(-1)) and vs (144 cm(-1)) in the second order phase region of NH4Cl (P = 2.8 kbar). By means of a power-law formula describing the critical behaviour of the frequency shifts 1/v(partial derivativev/partial derivativeT)p for those phonon modes studied, we extract the critical exponent value of a = 0.25, which can also describe the critical behaviour of the specific hear Cp close to the second order phase transition in NH4Cl. Within this content, our spectroscopically modified Pippard relations are introduced here.

Analysis of the Raman frequencies of a lattice mode in NH4Cl close to the tricritical and second order phase transitions
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (Elsevier BV, 2006-4)
We analyze here our observed Raman frequencies of the nu(5) (174 cm(-1)) mode in NH4Cl close to its tricritical (P = 1.6 kbar) and the second order (P = 2.8 kbar) phase transitions. The critical behavior of the frequency shifts 1/nu (partial derivative nu/partial derivative T)(P) for this optical mode is described by a power-law with the critical exponent a. Our values of a = 0.01 (T < T-C) and a = 0.11 (T > T-C) for P = 1.6 kbar in NH4Cl are close to the values of 0.066 (=1/16) below T-C and 0.125 (=1/8) a...
Calculation of the Raman frequencies as a function of temperature in phase I of benzene
Tari, O.; Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (2013-06-01)
This study gives our calculation of the Raman frequencies of the lattice modes A (A(1g)), B (A(g)B(2g)) and C (B1gB3g) as a function of temperature at constant pressures of 0, 1.4 and 3.05 GPa for the solid phase I of benzene. The Raman frequencies of those lattice modes are calculated using the volume data from the literature through the mode Gruneisen parameters for the solid phase I of this molecular crystal. It is shown here that the Raman frequencies of the lattice modes studied decrease with increasin...
Calculation of the specific heat close to the first-order and second-order phase transitions in ammonium halides
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (2000-10-01)
This study presents our calculation of the specific heat C-v1 under the prediction of an Ising model. For this calculation we used our observed Raman frequencies for the l'5LO (177 cm(-1)) mode of NH4Br, the v(5)TO (144 cm(-1)) and v(1)TA (93 cm(-1)) modes of NH4Cl close to the first-order phase transitions (P = 0). We also calculate the specific heat Cvi using our observed Raman frequencies for the v(1)TA (93 cm(-1)) mode of NH4Cl close to the second-order phase transition (P = 2.8 kbar) in this crystallin...
Analysis of the Magnetization as a Function of the Magnetic Field at the Transition Temperature for La0.6Nd0.4Mn2Si2
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit; Emre, B.; Acet, M. (2015-03-01)
We analyze in this study our experimental data for the magnetization (M) as a function of the magnetic field (H) at various constant temperatures for the multilayer structure of La Nd-0.6 Mn-0.4 Si-2 (2) close to the ferromagnetic-antiferromagnetic transitions. This analysis is performed at the transition temperatures (T (c)) for the M vs. H- H (c) (H (c) is the critical field) according to a power-law formula above and below H (c), and the values of the critical isotherm delta are deduced for La Nd-0.6 Mn-...
Calculation of the specific heat for ND4Br close to phase transitions
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (2002-03-01)
This study gives our calculation for the specific heat close to the phase transitions from the disordered (phase 11) to the antiferro-ordered (phase 111) and to the ferro-ordered (phase IV) phases in ND4Br. We calculate the specific heat C-VI due to the nearest-neighbour interactions between ND4+. tetrahedra in the ND4Br crystal, by using an Ising model superimposed on an Einstein and/or Debye model which we have developed. Our calculated specific heat C-VI agrees well with the experimental C-p data for the...
