This paper presents the automatic transformation of a Field Artillery Conceptual Data Model (FADM) into a High Level Architecture (HLA) Object Model Template (OMT) Model (HOM). It is part of a series of transformations from field artillery mission space to federation architecture to executable distributed simulation code. The approach followed in the course of this work adheres to the Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) philosophy. The model transformation is carried out with the Graph Rewriting and Transformation (GReAT) tool and partly hand-coded in C++. Given a conceptual data model, a simulation object model is produced, tailored according to one of the three object class generation schemes, expounded in the paper. © 2010 IEEE.

Model-based code generation for the high level architecture federates
Adak, Bülent Mehmet; Oğuztüzün, Mehmet Halit S.; Department of Computer Engineering (2007)
We tackle the problem of automated code generation for a High Level Architecture (HLA)- compliant federate application, given a model of the federation architecture including the federate’s behavior model. The behavior model is based on Live Sequence Charts (LSCs), adopted as the behavioral specification formalism in the Federation Architecture Metamodel (FAMM). The FAMM is constructed conforming to metaGME, the meta-metamodel offered by Generic Modeling Environment (GME). FAMM serves as a formal language f...
The Use of Informed Priors in Biclustering of Gene Expression with the Hierarchical Dirichlet Process.
Tercan, Bahar; Acar, Aybar Can (2019-02-26)
We motivate and describe the application of Hierarchical Dirichlet Process (HDP) models to the "soft" biclustering of gene expression data, in which we obtain modules (biclusters) where the affiliation of genes and samples with the modules are weighted, instead of being hard memberships. As a distinct contribution, we propose a method which HDP is informed with prior beliefs, significantly increasing the quality of the biclustering in terms of both the correctness of the number of modules inferred, and the ...
Transformation of conceptual models to executable High Level Architecture federation models
Özhan, Gürkan; Oğuztüzün, Mehmet Halit S. (Springer, 2015-01-01)
In this chapter, we present a formal, declarative, and visual model transformation methodology to map a domain conceptual model (CM) to a distributed simulation architecture model (DSAM). The approach adheres to the principles of model-driven engineering (MDE). A two-phased automatic transformation strategy is delineated to translate a field artillery conceptual model (ACM) into a high-level architecture (HLA) federation architecture model (FAM). The produced model is then compiled by the code generator to ...
View maintenance in object-oriented databases
Alhajj, R; Polat, Faruk (1996-01-01)
In this paper, we present a model that facilitates view maintenance within object-oriented databases. For that purpose, we differentiate between two categories of classes, base classes and brother classes. While the former constitute the actual database, the latter are introduced to hold virtual database, i.e., views derived from base classes. To achieve incremental view update, we introduce a modification list into each base class. A series of algorithms are developed to serve the purpose. Finally it happe...
Data and Behavior Decomposition for the Model-Driven Development of an Executable Simulation Model
Ozhan, Gurkan; Oğuztüzün, Mehmet Halit S. (2013-04-10)
In a previous work, we have presented a two step automatic transformation of Field Artillery Conceptual Model (ACM) into High Level Architecture (HLA) Federation Architecture Model (FAM) into executable distributed simulation code. The approach followed adheres to the Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) philosophy. ACM is comprised of a data component, based on UML class diagrams, and a behavioral component, based on Live Sequence Chart (LSC). The ACM modeling and its transformation to FAM for the common Adjustm...
