Cleaner (sustainable) production is addressed in various legal documents including legislations, policy plans and government incentives in Turkey. However if the factors such as population, level of development, industrial activities and regional policy targets of the country are taken into consideration, the level and extent of cleaner (sustainable) production activities are not at the desired level.

Investigation of sectoral priorities for cleaner (sustainable) production at regional and national level
Böğürcü, Merve; Demirer, Göksel Niyazi; Department of Environmental Engineering (2012)
One of the most important factors leading to success of a regional/national cleaner (sustainable) production strategy is sector-focused approach. Due to limited resources and other constraints, it is a necessity to make a prioritization between sectors for cleaner (sustainable) production practices. Thus, within the scope of this study, manufacturing industry sub-sectors in İzmir and in Turkey were prioritized based on various criteria. The results should assist policy makers in the preparation of related s...
A primary investigation of nutrient residues on the soils of citrus orchards in Güzelyurt
Forsuh, Peter Atungsiri; Saurin, Julian; Tokay, Begüm; Sustainable Environment and Energy Systems (2013-5)
The non-point (defused) source pollution of agrochemicals on soils; surface water and ground water may be a driving force of environmental degradation and may also pose risks to human health. This thesis seeks to address concerns about environmental sustainability in agriculture systems by undertaking a first baseline study of agrichemical residues - such as nitrate, nitrite, potash, and phosphates - on the soils of citrus orchards in Guzelyurt district. The methods applied in this study are both quantitati...
Use of the CY-PSPP in other cultures: a preliminary investigation of its factorial validity for Turkish children and youth
Asci, FH; Eklund, RC; Whitehead, JR; Kirazcı, Sadettin; Koca, C (Elsevier BV, 2005-01-01)
Objective. Growing international interest in self-esteem research and awareness of its relevance to human well-being and motivation has led to new opportunities to evaluate the cross-national and cross-cultural generalizability of self-esteem measurement. theory, and research (Marsh, 2001). Accordingly. the purpose of this study was to evaluate a Turkish translation of the CY-PSPP.
Reducing water and energy consumption in chemical industry by sustainable production approach: a pilot study for polyethylene terephthalate production
Alkaya, Emrah; Demirer, Göksel Niyazi (2015-07-15)
In this study, a polyethylene terephthalate manufacturing plant was subjected to environmental performance evaluation and analyses/benchmarking of water consumption. The objective was to determine processes/practices where significant water and related energy saving potential was present. Based on evaluations and analyses, a technology change was realized in heat transfer systems from water-to air-cooled process. As a result of the applications, soft cooling water consumption of the company was reduced by 4...
A comparative study of aisc-360 and eurocode 3 strength limit states
Şahin, Serkan; Topkaya, Cem; Department of Civil Engineering (2009)
Nowadays; design, fabrication and erection of steel structures can be taken place at different locations as a result of rapid globalization; owners may require the use of widely accepted steel design codes. Therefore, engineers are faced with the challenge of being competent with several design specifications for a particular material type. AISC-360 and EC3 are widely accepted steel structure design specifications that utilize limit state principles with some similarities and differences in application. Her...
