One of the most important factors leading to success of a regional/national cleaner (sustainable) production strategy is sector-focused approach. Due to limited resources and other constraints, it is a necessity to make a prioritization between sectors for cleaner (sustainable) production practices. Thus, within the scope of this study, manufacturing industry sub-sectors in İzmir and in Turkey were prioritized based on various criteria. The results should assist policy makers in the preparation of related sectoral roadmaps and action plans. The prioritization of manufacturing industry sub-sector was accomplished via Multi- Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) method with the integration of recent available data and by taking feedback from the stakeholders. Investigation of the sectoral priorities was carried out both at regional (İzmir) and national (Turkey) level. The criteria used in prioritization of manufacturing industry sub-sectors in İzmir were water and energy consumption, amount of wastewater discharged, amount of solid waste and hazardous waste generated, greenhouse gas emissions, HerfindahlHirschman Index (statistical measure of market concentration), sectoral employment, number of companies, export share, added value and suitability for cleaner (sustainable) production. In the prioritization analysis of Turkey all of the aforementioned criteria for İzmir except Herfindahl-Hirschman Index, number of companies and added value were used.Based on the results of this study, the top five high priority industrial sectors for cleaner (sustainable) production practices in İzmir are basic metal industry, food products and beverages, chemicals and chemical products, other non-metallic mineral products and coke and refined petroleum. In the sectoral prioritization analysis for cleaner (sustainable) production in Turkey textile industry takes the place of coke and refined petroleum. These sectors coincide with the priority sectors identified based on different purposes by other regional and national institutions.

EXPLORING THE EFFECT OF ERASMUS PROGRAM ON CULTURAL INTELLIGENCE OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
Gökten, Özge; Emil, Serap (2018-10-23)
In 21st century, it is very important to carry out successful cross-cultural interactions. With the effect of internationalization, colleges are developing new policies in order to compete in global academic environment. One of these initiatives in the European context is Erasmus Student Mobility Program. Moreover, Cultural intelligence (CQ) is the phenomenon that is regarded as one of the essential skills to carry out those cross-cultural interactions. In general terms, it is the “ability to make one...
Review of Residual Stress Measurement by Magnetic Barkhausen Noise Technique
Gür, Cemil Hakan (2018-01-01)
Determination of residual stress state is important for quality, integrity, and service performance of the components and structures. Almost all manufacturing processes cause considerable amounts of residual stress; thus, any process or product design ignoring it involves a risk for distortion or early failure. Among the existing methods, the magnetic Barkhausen noise method has been gaining attention for measuring residual stresses nondestructively in ferromagnetic materials. It is sensitive to the interac...
Improving Building Performance of Higher Education Buildings, Involvement of End Users
Gooding, Luke; Erdogan, Bilge; Gürsel Dino, İpek (2019-04-20)
The importance of end user participation within the development of a design for building improvement is accepted and recognised. It is nonetheless a significant challenge to select the best approach for the engagement of users to produce effective design process contribution. This paper assesses the suitability of early stage qualitative end user engagement in enabling the design process. In particular, the paper reports on the case application of this early stage approach to make design decisions, in t...
Selecting quality improvement projects and product mix together in manufacturing: an improvement of a theory of constraints-based approach by incorporating quality loss
Köksal, Gülser (Informa UK Limited, 2004-12-01)
The quality of products and processes needs to be improved continuously in today's competitive environments. Unless these improvement efforts are focused properly, companies might not achieve desirable results in terms of sales, quality and productivity. Many quality improvement (QI) approaches have a limited evaluation of the factors involved in the selection of QI projects. Theory of constraints (TOC) has been proposed by some researchers as a remedy for the better selection of QI projects. However, these...
The Relationship between Organizational Commitment Organizational Identification Person Organization Fit and Job Satisfaction A Research on IT Employees

The Information Technology field has characteristics that make for a unique working environment. This paper presents a study conducted among the Information Technology (IT) employees working at the Ministry of the Turkish Government, which examined the relationship between the constructs; person organization fit, organizational identification, organizational commitment and job satisfaction. First, these constructs were briefly discussed, then the hypotheses were developed based on the relevant literature an...
