Oscillation criteria for third-order nonlinear functional differential equations
AKTAŞ, MUSTAFA FAHRİ; Tiryaki, A.; Zafer, Ağacık (Elsevier BV, 2010-07-01)
In this work, we are concerned with oscillation of third-order nonlinear functional differential equations of the form
Hyperbolic conservation laws on manifolds. An error estimate for finite volume schemes
Lefloch, Philippe G.; Okutmuştur, Baver; Neves, Wladimir (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2009-07-01)
Following Ben-Artzi and LeFloch, we consider nonlinear hyperbolic conservation laws posed on a Riemannian manifold, and we establish an L (1)-error estimate for a class of finite volume schemes allowing for the approximation of entropy solutions to the initial value problem. The error in the L (1) norm is of order h (1/4) at most, where h represents the maximal diameter of elements in the family of geodesic triangulations. The proof relies on a suitable generalization of Cockburn, Coquel, and LeFloch's theo...
Oscillation of higher order neutral type difference equations
Zafer, Ağacık (1995-08-11)
In this work we are concerned with oscillation of solutions of the neutral difference equation of the form
Equivariant CW-complexes and the orbit category
Hambleton, Ian; Pamuk, Semra; YALÇIN, ERGÜN (European Mathematical Society Publishing House, 2013-01-01)
We give a general framework for studying G-CW complexes via the orbit category. As an application we show that the symmetric group G = S-5 admits a finite G-CW complex X homotopy equivalent to a sphere, with cyclic isotropy subgroups.
Analysis of variance and linear contrasts in experimental design with generalized secant hyperbolic distribution
Yilmaz, Yidiz E.; Akkaya, Ayşen (Elsevier BV, 2008-07-01)
We consider one-way classification model in experimental design when the errors have generalized secant hyperbolic distribution. We obtain efficient and robust estimators for block effects by using the modified maximum likelihood estimation (MML) methodology. A test statistic analogous to the normal-theory F statistic is defined to test block effects. We also define a test statistic for testing linear contrasts. It is shown that test statistics based on MML estimators are efficient and robust. The methodolo...
