Neotectonics of the karamik graben-Afyon- (Isparta Angle), Sw Turkey
Çiçek, Aydın; Koçyiğit, Ali; Department of Geological Engineering (2009)
The Karamık Graben (KG) is 6-17-km-wide, 29-km-long and NNE-SSWtrending active depression located within the Isparta Angle of the Southwestern Turkey extensional neotectonic domain. The KG is bounded by ENE-SSWtrending Karacaören fault zone to the south, the NNE-SSW-trending Koçbeyli- Akkonak fault zone to the east, the WNW-ESE-trending Akşehir fault zone to the north, and the NE-SW to NNE-SSW-trending Devederesi fault zone to the west. The KG contains two graben infills separated by an angular unconformity...
Neotectonics and seismicity of eastern simav graben, Kütahya – Turkey
Kaplan, Mustafa; Koçyiğit, Ali; Department of Geological Engineering (2014)
The Simav graben is an about 1-9 km wide, 50 km long and approximately WNW-trending active depression. It is located along the western section of a seismogenic belt with a depth of 10-15 km. It is the 10-30 km wide and approximately 500 km long active fault system, namely the Akşehir-Simav fault system. The Simav graben was developed on the northern Menderes Massif under the control of active faults comprising the Simav section of the Akşehir-Simav fault system. The Simav and Akdere grabens include two diff...

Neotethyan ophiolitic rocks of the Anatolides of NW Turkey and comparison with Tauride ophiolites
Onen, AP (2003-11-01)
The Izmir-Ankara-Erzincan zone in Turkey is part of the Anatolide belt. In NW Anatolia, near Kutahya, the ophiolitic rocks within the Izmir-Ankara-Erzincan suture zone have a tholeiitic character and oceanic back-arc chemistry. Amphibolites form a metamorphic sole to part of the ophiolite in the Kutahya region and yield an Ar-40/Ar-39 age of 93 +/- 2 Ma, interpreted to record high-grade metamorphism and intraoceanic thrusting of pre-existing ocean crust. Gabbros and dykes yield Ar-40/Ar-39 ages of 94 +/- 13...
