Wideband low-phase shift digital step attenuators
Arash, Ebrahimi Jarihani; Koçer, Fatih; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2016)
Digital Step attenuators are used in many communication systems to regulate the signal level to achieve maximum system performance. The figure of merit of these attenuators are linearity, accuracy, and their power handling capabilities. Attenuators currently offered in the industry performs well to meet stringent requirements of the modern communications systems. However, all step attenuators currently offered introduces a phase-shift with respect to the attenuation setting and frequency. This phase-shift c...

Wideband omnidirectional and sector coverage antenna arrays for base stations
Alatan, Lale (2018-01-01)
By using parallel strip line fed printed dipole antennas as array elements, an omnidirectional antenna array and a wide angle sector coverage array operating in octave band are designed. A maximum deviation of ±1.25 dB from the omnidirectional pattern is achieved for the omnidirectional array, and the average gain of the antenna was measured as being 5 dB in the 1.35–2.7GHz band. For the sector coverage array, a special reflector design is utilized to maintain a half power beam width of around 115◦ with a s...
Wideband phase shifter for 6-18 Ghz applications
Boyacıoğlu, Gökhan; Demir, Şimşek; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2010)
Phase shifters are common microwave circuit devices, which are widely used in telecommunication and radar applications, microwave measurement systems, and many other industrial applications. They are key circuits of T/R modules and are used to form the main beam of the electronically scanned phase array antennas. Wideband operating range is an important criterion for EW applications. Hence, wideband performance of the phase shifter is also important. In this study, four wideband phase shifter circuits are d...
Wideband long wave infrared metamaterial absorbers based on silicon nitride
ÜSTÜN, Kadir; Sayan, Gönül (2016-11-28)
In this paper, we present silicon nitride metamaterial absorber designs that accomplish large bandwidth and high absorption in the long wave infrared (LWIR) region. These designs are based on the metal-insulator-metal topology, insulator (silicon nitride), and the top metal (aluminum) layers are optimized to obtain high absorptance values in large bandwidths, for three different silicon nitride based absorber structures. The absorption spectrum of the final design reaches absorptance values above 90% in the...
