ON FIXED-POINTS OF DYNAMIC-SYSTEMS

1990-09-01
Tezer, Cem
Two fixed points of a topological dynamical system are said to be of the same type if there exists a homeomorphic conjugacy of the system into itself sending the one fixed point into the other. The system will be said to be homogeneous if all its fixed points are of the same type. We introduce algebraic methods to investigate related questions for the shifts of expanding maps.

On finite groups admitting a fixed point free abelian operator group whose order is a product of three primes
Mut Sağdıçoğlu, Öznur; Ercan, Gülin; Department of Mathematics (2009)
A long-standing conjecture states that if A is a finite group acting fixed point freely on a finite solvable group G of order coprime to jAj, then the Fitting length of G is bounded by the length of the longest chain of subgroups of A. If A is nilpotent, it is expected that the conjecture is true without the coprimeness condition. We prove that the conjecture without the coprimeness condition is true when A is a cyclic group whose order is a product of three primes which are coprime to 6 and the Sylow 2-sub...
On the exact solution of the Schrodinger equation with a quartic anharmonicity
Taşeli, Hasan (1996-01-05)
A new version of solutions in the form of an exponentially weighted power series is constructed for the two-dimensional circularly symmetric quartic oscillators, which reflects successfully the desired properties of the exact wave function. The regular series part is shown to be the solution of a transformed equation. The transformed equation is applicable to the one-dimensional problem as well. Moreover, the exact closed-form eigenfunctions of the harmonic oscillator can be reproduced as a special case of ...
On a Fitting length conjecture without the coprimeness condition
Ercan, Gülin (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2012-08-01)
Let A be a finite nilpotent group acting fixed point freely by automorphisms on the finite solvable group G. It is conjectured that the Fitting length of G is bounded by the number of primes dividing the order of A, counted with multiplicities. The main result of this paper shows that the conjecture is true in the case where A is cyclic of order p (n) q, for prime numbers p and q coprime to 6 and G has abelian Sylow 2-subgroups.
On the consistency of the solutions of the space fractional Schroumldinger equation (vol 53, 042105, 2012)
Bayin, Selcuk S. (2012-08-01)
Recently we have reanalyzed the consistency of the solutions of the space fractional Schroumldinger equation found in a piecewise manner, and showed that an exact and a proper treatment of the relevant integrals prove that they are consistent. In this comment, for clarity, we present additional information about the critical integrals and describe how their analytic continuation is accomplished.
A coupled numerical scheme of dual reciprocity BEM with DQM for the transient elastodynamic problems
Bozkaya, Canan (Wiley, 2008-11-12)
The two-dimensional transient elastodynamic problems are solved numerically by using the coupling of the dual reciprocity boundary element method (DRBEM) in spatial domain with the differential quadrature method (DQM) in time domain. The DRBEM with the fundamental solution of the Laplace equation transforms the domain integrals into the boundary integrals that contain the first- and the second-order time derivative terms. Thus, the application of DRBEM to elastodynamic problems results in a system of second...
