Three new species, Acantholimon bashkaleicum sp. nov., Acantholimon artosense sp. nov. and Acantholimon hoshapicum sp. nov. (Plumbaginaceae) are described and illustrated. The species are all confined to B9/B10 Van Province in East Anatolia where they grow either on calcareous mountain slopes or on mountain steppes. Diagnostic morphological characteristics from the closely related species are given, along with a discussion dealing with their taxonomic relationships, and their conservation statuses are pointed out. A revised key to the Acantholimon species with heterophyllous leaves, two or more flowered and four or more bracteated spikelets is also provided. (C) 2004 The Linnean Society of London.

New Araucarian Conifer from the Late Cretaceous (Campanian-Maastrichtian) of Southeastern Turkey
Kvacek, Jiri; Yılmaz, İsmail Ömer; Hosgor, Izzet; Mendes, Mario Miguel (University of Chicago Press, 2019-07-01)
A new fossil conifer Araucaria rothwellii J.Kvaek from the Campanian-Maastrichtian marine sediments of the Bozova Formation in southeastern Turkey is described based on leaf compressions and leaf impressions. The new species is characterized by twigs possessing helically arranged broadly lanceolate leaves with attenuate apexes and slightly narrowed bases. Amphistomatic leaves bear stomata arranged in rows surrounded by four to six subsidiary cells; the rows are longitudinal to the leaf margin. Ordinary epid...
Two New Species and a New Record of Oppioid Mites (Acari: Oribatida) from Turkey
BARAN, ŞULE; AYYILDIZ, Nusret; Kence, Aykut (2012-05-01)
Two new species Oppiella (Perspicuoppia) ozkani sp. n. and Epimerella ankaraensis sp. n. are recorded from Aegean region of Turkey (Izmir province) and pine forest in the province of Ankara in Turkey, respectively. The principal diagnostic features of the new species Oppiella (Perspicuoppia) ozkani sp. n. are shape of notogastral crista and humeral process and shape of costula. The new species Epimerella ankaraensis diferentiated from the other species of genus by entire rostrum. This is the first records o...
A taxonomic revision of the Sempervivum davisii complex (Crassulaceae)
KARAER, FERGAN; CELEP, FERHAT; Eggli, Urs (Wiley, 2011-01-01)
A revision of four Sempervivum species (S. artvinense, S. brevipetalum, S. davisii and S. furseorum) based on field observation and examination of herbarium specimens (including the type specimens of all names) is presented. Examination of critical diagnostic characters showed that S. artvinense, S. brevipetalum and S. furseorum fall within the variability of S. davisii and should be subsumed as synonyms under this name. Sempervivum furseorum shows minor but consistent morphological and ecological differenc...
