At present the efficiency upgrading of the motor exceeds the requirement for the market from environmental problem, and the regulation advances in all the countries of world. In this paper we will discuss about the development of IE4 level motor, which is new target for international efficiencies. Efficiency classes IE1-IE4 arc defined in international standard IEC 60034-30. The draft version of EEC 60034-31 defines the new class IE4. The IE-codes replaces the former voluntary Eff classification of electric motors as shown in Table 1. The Eff classes are based on a voluntary agreement between the EU and the CEMEP in 1998. JIS C4212 is Japanese standard.

Modeling, simulation and experimental verification of a hydraulic fan drive system
Toraman, Ersen; Balkan, Raif Tuna; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2013)
Environmental factors, global legislations and economic reasons force vehicle industry to produce more efficient systems. Displacement controlled hydraulic fan drive system is one of the energy efficient alternatives for stationary highway vehicles, construction machines and military vehicles that have moderate engine size and less benefit from ram air cooling. In this thesis study, hydraulic fan drive system of a military vehicle is investigated and a dynamic model of the system is developed. MATLAB/Simuli...
Estimation of road freight transportation emissions in Turkey
Özen, Murat; Tüydeş Yaman, Hediye; İnal, Ayhan; Department of Civil Engineering (2013)
To obtain a more sustainable transportation system, it is also important to decrease both fuel consumption and carbon emissions in road freight sector, as well. The first step towards this goal is to determine the current level of road freight demand and related emissions. This is rather challenging in Turkey, because disaggregate commodity flow data does not exist. However, annual roadside axle survey, performed by the Turkish General Directorate of Highways, is a valuable source of circulation information...
Variable renewable energy technologies in the Turkish electricity market: Quantile regression analysis of the merit-order effect
Sirin, Selahattin Murat; Yılmaz, Berna Nisa (Elsevier BV, 2020-09-01)
The share of variable renewable energy sources in power supply has increased significantly in many countries; however, this increase has also created problems in electricity markets. While the average day-ahead market price has declined in several markets (the merit-order effect), the remuneration mechanisms in some countries have to be revised due to the surge in financial costs. Yet, further research is needed to understand the implications of the merit-order effect for remuneration mechanisms thoroughly....
Life cycle assessment of off-highway trucks and belt conveyors for sustainable mining
Erkayaoğlu, Mustafa; Demirel, Nuray; Department of Mining Engineering (2011)
In recent years increasing growth rate of all industrial fields generated an emerging energy demand and consequent environmental problems worldwide. Defining environmental profiles of products and systems using environmental tools, such as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), is a critical issue for sustainable mining. In order to tackle the increasing environmental challenges and air emissions induced by surface coal mining, alternative material handling options are needed to be evaluated. This research study aims...
Assessment of applicability of performance-based contracts in Turkey for road maintenance services
Ateş, Koray; Öztürk, Hande Işık; Department of Civil Engineering (2019)
In the last decades, many countries have been in search of new contracting types for the road maintenance sector to reduce the cost by increasing efficiency. Performance-based contracting (PBC) for road maintenance services, which is one of the most popular approaches that has been preferred by many countries all over the world, has been reviewed in detail in this study. Although many studies and cases present the affirmative results of PBC, changing the road maintenance system from the traditional contract...
