We consider the hypotheses; H-0 : theta = 0 vs. H-1 : theta greater than or equal to eta where theta is the dependence parameter of the Farlie-Gumbel-Morgenstren distribution and eta is an element of (0, 1]. A test, which maximizes the minimum power over the alternative hypothesis, is given for these hypotheses. The power function of this test is monotone increasing over the alternative hypothesis. Furthermore, the asymptotic distribution and the approximate power of the test are presented.

Breaking diffeomorphism invariance and tests for the emergence of gravity

If general relativity is an emergent phenomenon, there may be small violations of diffeomorphism invariance. We propose a phenomenology of perturbatively small violations of general relativity by the inclusion of terms which break general covariance. These can be tested by matching to the parameterized post-Newtonian formalism. The most sensitive tests involve pulsar timing and provide an extremely strong bound, with a dimensionless constraint of order 10(-20) relative to gravitational strength.

We have studied mitochondrial (mt) DNA variation in 334 honey bee colonies from 7 different geographic regions of Turkey. We have evaluated Dra I restriction profiles of the CO-I CO-II intergenic region, Hinf-I and Taq-1 restriction profiles of the CO-I gene and EcoR-1 restriction profiles of the whole mtDNA.
