This paper attempts to compare the research Output and priorities of 25 major Countries in renewable energy research. The main objective is to assess the research priorities of the major countries in frontier areas subjects of renewable energy using some bibliometric measures based on renewable energy literature. Subjects of high activity and Subjects of low activity are identified for two time periods ( 1996-1997 and 1998 1999). Our findings, show that the output of publications including articles. reviews. letters, notes, editorials, and book reviews of India, Greece, and Belgium declined between 1996-1997 and 1998 1999. All measures indicate that in the USA all subjects of renewable energy received more or less the same priority, The rest of the countries had differentiated high- or low-priority profiles in different subjects. Among the main research subjects of renewable energy only photovoltaic technology (PV) had a fairly homogenous profile for all countries.

Overcoming problems in Turkey's renewable energy policy: How can EU contribute?
Sirin, Selahattin Murat; Ege, Aylin (2012-09-01)
Fossil fuels cover most of the energy demand in the world, and this creates significant social, economic and environmental problems. Many countries have taken measures to increase the share of renewable energy sources (RES), especially in electricity generation, and the review of literature shows that the success of a country in RES diffusion depends on a comprehensive renewable energy policy which combines political commitment with stable and long-term support measures that stimulate technological innovati...
Operating policies for energy generation and revenue management in single-reservoir hydropower systems
Ak, Mumtaz; Kentel Erdoğan, Elçin; Savaşaneril Tüfekci, Seçil (Elsevier BV, 2017-10-01)
We study the reservoir management problem in hydropower plants, and propose operating policies to maximize the average annual energy generation or the average annual revenue. Under revenue maximization, our policies allow for short-term electricity price variations to be incorporated into the long-term plan. First, we provide a detailed review of hydropower plant operation, focusing on implicit stochastic optimization approaches and integration of energy price variations in reservoir management. Then, we ex...
Renewable energy promotion strategies of individual states and regional frameworks: a comparative approach
Şekerci, Almira Sinemis; Tanrısever, Oktay Fırat; Department of International Relations (2017)
This thesis seeks to examine the importance of using renewable energy by using different promotion strategies, methods, technologies and policies among the different countries and regional frameworks in order to achieve a sustainable future. The main argument of the thesis is that contrary to the views of some scholars, who argue that it is the renewable energy potential of countries that is the key for the development of the renewable energy sectors, this thesis argues that it is mainly the renewable energ...
A review of Ghana's energy sector national energy statistics and policy framework
Asumadu-Sarkodie, Samuel; Owusu, Phebe Asantewaa (2016-01-01)
In this study, a review of Ghana's energy sector national energy statistics and policy framework is done to create awareness of the strategic planning and energy policies of Ghana's energy sector that will serve as an informative tool for both local and foreign investors, help in national decision-making for the efficient development and utilization of energy resources. The review of Ghana's energy sector policy is to answer the question, what has been done so far? And what is the way forward? The future re...
The potential and economic viability of solar photovoltaic power in Ghana
Asumadu-Sarkodie, Samuel; Owusu, Phebe Asantewaa (Informa UK Limited, 2016-01-01)
In this study, the potentiality and economic viability of solar photovoltaic (PV) in Ghana was assessed using RETScreen software. 5 MW of grid-connected solar PV power system using SunPower SPR-320E-WHT-D PV module can be harnessed from Navrongo, Bawku, Wa, Tema, Bolgatanga, Axim, Salaga, Kintampo, Kete Krachi, Tamale, Hohoe, Koforidua, Ejura, Takoradi, Bole, Sunyani, Bibiani, Cape coast, Prestea, and Akuse, which requires US$17,752,179 of investment capital and 25,313 m(2) of land for PV installation. The ...
