The optimal reservoir configuration for maximum productivity index of gas reservoirs depleted by horizontal wells under Darcy and non-Darcy flow conditions

Al-Rbeawi, Salam
A new approach for estimating productivity index of horizontal wells depleting finite gas reservoirs is introduced in this paper. This approach focuses on using reservoir configurations and anisotropy as well as wellbore length for calculating productivity index at pseudo-steady state conditions when production time is no longer affects reservoir performance. The paper also aims to determine the optimal reservoir configurations that could give the maximum productivity index.

An Energetic Type Model for the Cross shore Distribution of Total Longshore Sediment Transport Rate
Baykal, Cüneyt; Güler, Işıkhan (2012-07-06)
This paper presents an energetic-based simple approach for the computation of cross-shore distribution of total longshore sediment transport (LST) rates. The proposed approach (Baykal 2012) follows similar assumptions with the given formula of Bayram et al. (2007) for the total LST rate (Qlst,t) across the surf zone and is applied to investigate the relation between the rate of dissipation in wave energy flux due to wave breaking and total longshore sediment flux using the available laboratory measurements ...
Integrated deterministic approaches for productivity index of reservoirs depleted by horizontal wells and undergone multiphase flow conditions
Al-Rbeawi, Salam (Elsevier BV, 2019-04-01)
This paper introduces new integrated approaches for estimating pseudo-steady state productivity index (PI) and shape factor of oil and gas reservoirs drained by horizontal wells and dominated by multiphase flow conditions. These approaches couple PVT data, relative permeability curves, and pressure distribution models during pseudo-steady state flow (PSS). The objective is eliminating the uncertainties of applying single phase flow models and substantially comprising the realistic parameters that govern mul...
Direct Calculation of Entropy Generation by Solving Reynolds-Averaged Entropy Transport Equation in an Air-Cooled Turbine Cascade
Orhan, Omer Emre; Uzol, Oğuz (2012-06-15)
This paper presents an implementation of directly solving Reynolds-Averaged Entropy Transport equation as a part of the CFD solution to predict entropy generation rates in a two-dimensional turbine blade stator section. The Reynolds Averaged Entropy Transport and the necessary modeling. equations are implemented to a commercial CFD solver as a User Defined Scalar (UDS). The results are compared with those obtained by post-processing the temperature and velocity fields obtained by solving full Navier-Stokes ...
Numerical analysis of an organic Rankine cycle under steady and variable heat input
Bamgbopa, Musbaudeen O.; Uzgoren, Eray (Elsevier BV, 2013-07-01)
This paper develops a strategy to maintain steady operation of an organic Rankine cycle (ORC) by adjusting evaporator flow rates in relation to the available thermal energy. ORC unit under investigation uses R245fa as the working fluid, for which a regression based approach was implemented to evaluate its state properties. Steady and transient models for unit's subcomponents (pump, evaporator, expander and condenser) were developed. Heat source is considered as solar heated water between 80 degrees C and 95...
A Detailed Analysis for the Absorption Coefficient of Multilevel Uncooled Infrared Detectors
Küçük, Serhat; Akın, Tayfun (2011-04-29)
This paper introduces a detailed analysis on the calculation of the absorption coefficient of multilevel uncooled infrared detectors. The analysis is carried out considering a two-level 25 mu m pixel pitch infrared detector with a sandwich type resistor which is divided into sub-regions consisting of different stacks of layers. The absorption coefficients of these different sub-regions are calculated individually by using the cascaded transmission line model, including the main body, arms, and the regions w...
