Radiation characteristics of slot excited cylindrical antenna coated by layered anisotropic material

This paper presents the radiation characteristics of a slot antenna on a conducting circular cylinder coated with an anisotropic layer. Full wave equations in a cylindrical anisotropic medium are derived from transversal field equations using Fourier series in azimuth /spl phi/ and Fourier transform in axial coordinate z. The solution is expressed in terms of state transition matrices which are evaluated numerically. Formulation can be easily generalized to multilayered cylindrical structures. Effects of changing different variables such as bias field, thickness of the coating, frequency, etc., are investigated.

Radiation of dipoles in multilayered cylinder with ferrite layer
Aydin, O; Hizal, A (1996-07-26)
Radiation characteristics of infinitesimal dipole in multilayered circular cylindrical structure including gyromagnetic media are investigated. Transversal field equations in spectral domain are obtained for gyromagnetic medium in cylindrical coordinates. These expressions are formed into a set of linear differential equations. The solution at each layer is expressed in terms of state transition matrices. Fields are matched at the interfaces. Far fields are evaluated asymptotically. The effects of changing ...

This paper presents a reconfigurable dual-frequency rectangular slot antenna using MEMS technology. MEMS fixed-fixed beam type capacitors loading the antenna are actuated electrostatically to change the equivalent capacitance of the antenna which provides shift in the resonant frequencies. The measurement results show very good agreement with the simulation results and the resonant frequencies are shifted 1 GHz and 350 MHz continuously at around 8.5 GHz and 10.5 GHz, respectively.
Image formation model for photon sieves
Öktem, Sevinç Figen; Kamalabadi, Farzad (2013-09-15)
A photon sieve, modification of a Fresnel zone plate, has been recently proposed to achieve higher resolution imaging and spectroscopy at UV and x-ray wavelengths. In this paper, we present Fresnel imaging formulas that relate the output of a photon sieve imaging system to its input, originating from either a coherent or incoherent extended source. By using a well-known model for the zone plate, we also provide approximations to these imaging formulas, which are more efficient to compute. These imaging rela...
Analysis and design of slotted substrate integrated waveguide antenna on cylindrical surface
Bayraktar, Ömer; Aydın Çivi, Hatice Özlem; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2014)
This thesis presents novel traveling wave conformal shunt slot arrays on cylindrical substrate integrated waveguide (CSIW) placed on a cylindrical surface in the circumferential direction at K-band. Mutual couplings of longitudinal slots on broad wall of CSIW are formulated and active admittance formulas of the slots are derived which are used in Elliott’s design procedure to design slotted CSIW arrays. The designs are carried out at 25 GHz using non-uniform and uniform slot separations. The non uniform slo...
3D scanning Hall probe microscopy with 700 nm resolution
DEDE, MUNIR; AKRAM, RİZWAN; Oral, Ahmet (2016-10-31)
In this report, we present a three dimensional (3D) imaging of magnetic field vector (B) over right arrow (x,y,z) emanating from the magnetic material surfaces using a scanning Hall probe microscopy (3D-SHPM) down to a 700 nm spatial resolution. The Hall probe is used to measure B-z(x,y) on the specimen surface at different heights with the step size of Delta z = 250 nm, as we move away from the surface in z direction, until the field decays to zero. These set of images are then used to get partial derivati...
