Detailed electromagnetic analysis of the wake-field accelerator is presented. Particular attention is given to the two-dimensional dynamics model to understand how the wake-field affects the self-consistent radial dynamics of the beam. The corrent fields, in zeroth and first order, are obtained by using Fourier transform in the radial field. The self-focusing of the driving beam in a plasma is a result of the transverse wake. The ratio of the transverse wake-field to the longitudinal wake-field within the beam is calculated for small and large radii beams.

Studies of Charm Quark Diffusion inside Jets Using Pb-Pb and pp Collisions at root s(NN)=5.02 TeV
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (American Physical Society (APS), 2020-09-01)
The first study of charm quark diffusion with respect to the jet axis in heavy ion collisions is presented. The measurement is performed using jets with p(T)(jet) > 60 GeV/c and D-0 mesons with p(T)(D) > 4 GeV/c in lead-lead (Pb-Pb) and proton-proton (pp) collisions at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of root s(NN) = 5.02 TeV, recorded by the CMS detector at the LHC. The radial distribution of D-0 mesons with respect to the jet axis is sensitive to the production mechanisms of the meson, as well as t...
A Numerical Study of a Modular Sparse Grad-Div Stabilization Method for Boussinesq Equations
Demir, Medine; Kaya Merdan, Songül (2019-10-10)
This study presents a modular sparse grad-div stabilization method for solving the Boussinesq equations. Unlike the usual grad-div stabilization which produces fully coupled block matrices, the proposed stabilization method produces block upper triangular matrices. Thus, the proposed method is more attractive in terms of both its computational cost and solution accuracy. We provide unconditional stability results for velocity and temperature. Two numerical experiments are performed to demonstrate the effici...
Measurement of hard double-parton interactions in W(-> lv) plus 2-jet events at root s=7 TeV with the ATLAS detector
Aad, G.; et. al. (IOP Publishing, 2013-03-25)
The production of W bosons in association with two jets in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 7 TeV has been analysed for the presence of double-parton interactions using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb(-1), collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The fraction of events arising from double-parton interactions, f(DP)((D)), has been measured through the p(T) balance between the two jets and amounts to f(DP)((D)) = 0.08 +/- 0.01 (stat...
Observation of Top Quark Production in Proton-Nucleus Collisions
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (American Physical Society (APS), 2017-12-01)
The first observation of top quark production in proton-nucleus collisions is reported using proton-lead data collected by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of root(S)(NN) = 8.16 TeV. The measurement is performed using events with exactly one isolated electron or muon candidate and at least four jets. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 174 nb(-1). The significance of the tt signal against the background-only hypothesis is above 5 standard d...
An Autonomous Interface Circuit Based on Self-Investing Synchronous Energy Extraction for Low Power Piezoelectric Energy Harvesters
ÇİFTCİ, BERKAY; Chamanian, S.; Uluşan, H.; Külah, Haluk (2019-12-04)
This paper presents a self-powered interface circuit to rectify and manage the AC output of the piezoelectric energy harvesters (PEH) by utilizing Self-Investing Synchronous Electric Charge Extraction technique (SI-SECE). The system invests charges from the battery to PEH to improve the electromechanical coupling factor and consequently the energy extraction by utilizing only one external component. The circuit was implemented in 180 nm CMOS technology where high voltage (HV) MOS transistors are utilized to...
