A tool for visualizing the communication events in a parallel processing system consisting of transputers is presented. A user program written in OCCAM language is preprocessed by this tool to add run-time event timing mechanisms. Time-stamping data thus obtained is then displayed by a second tool in a graphical format which accurately illustrates any channel or link communication occurring during the execution of the user program. This knowledge enables the user to gain a wider insight in the improvement of his/her implementation

A temporal neural network model for constructing connectionist expert system knowledge bases
Alpaslan, Ferda Nur (Elsevier BV, 1996-04-01)
This paper introduces a temporal feedforward neural network model that can be applied to a number of neural network application areas, including connectionist expert systems. The neural network model has a multi-layer structure, i.e. the number of layers is not limited. Also, the model has the flexibility of defining output nodes in any layer. This is especially important for connectionist expert system applications.
An Interactive computational design approach for creating architectural topographiesi
Ongun, Gökhan; Mennan, Zeynep; Department of Architecture (2013)
The research aims at developing a digital environment for understanding and analyzing natural forces and designing according to the simultaneous feedback given by omputational tools. The thesis is an investigation into the concept of interactivity between the designer and computer through the use of computational fluid dynamic tools in a local context of Eastern Netherlands Coast, in response to the already dynamic natural fluid like elements such as air, coastal currents and sand particles. The behavior of...
A new electromagnetic target classification method with MUSIC algorithm
Secmen, Mustafa; Sayan, Gönül (2006-01-01)
This paper introduces a novel method for aspect invariant electromagnetic target recognition based on the use of multiple signal classification (MUSIC) algorithm to extract late-time resonant target features from the ultra-wideband scattered data. This method is mainly based on the usage of MUSIC spectra obtained from electromagnetic scattered data as the target features. This approach achieves very high accuracy rates even at very low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) values although it needs scattered data for ...
A Flexible and Scalable Audio Information Retrieval System for Mixed-Type Audio Signals
Dogan, Ebru; SERT, MUSTAFA; Yazıcı, Adnan (Wiley, 2011-10-01)
The content-based classification and retrieval of real-world audio clips is one of the challenging tasks in multimedia information retrieval. Although the problem has been well studied in the last two decades, most of the current retrieval systems cannot provide flexible querying of audio clips due to the mixed-type form (e.g., speech over music and speech over environmental sound) of audio information in real world. We present here a complete, scalable, and extensible content-based classification and retri...
An architecture for workflow scheduling under resource allocation constraints
Karagöz, Pınar; Toroslu, İsmail Hakkı (Elsevier BV, 2005-07-01)
Research on specification and scheduling of workflows has concentrated on temporal and causality constraints, which specify existence and order dependencies among tasks. However, another set of constraints that specify resource allocation is also equally important. The resources in a workflow environment are agents such as person, machine, software, etc. that execute the task. Execution of a task has a cost and this may vary depending on the resources allocated in order to execute that task. Resource alloca...
