THE INFLUENCE OF DISORDER ON THE GROUP-THEORETICALLY DERIVED SELECTION-RULES IN AMMONIUM HALIDES
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (1988-05-01)
There is no significant disagreement about the basic selection rules operating in the ferro-ordered (δ) and antiferro-ordered (γ) phases of the ammonium halides. The effects of residual disorder just below the transition temperature (Tc) are still treated differently by different research groups and therefore this remains a subject of some interest. In this study it will be shown how our approaches lead to assignments of the modes observed in the disordered β - phase, Raman spectrum at temperatures just be...

The Dewaterability of Disintegrated Sludge Samples Before and After Anaerobic Digestion
Apul, O. Gueven; Atalar, Ilgin; Zorba, Goezde T.; Sanin, Faika Dilek (Informa UK Limited, 2010-01-01)
Sludge pretreatment systems emerged during the past few decades to reduce the ever-increasing quantities of sludge. A variety of different techniques have been studied for their effectiveness in solubilizing the chemical oxygen demand (COD) and increasing the digestability and decreasing the final quantity of sludge. In this study different pretreatment techniques and their effects on dewaterability were investigated at two stages of treatment. First, dewaterability was measured as capillary suction time (C...
The effects of containment on detonation velocity
Souers, PC; Vitello, P; Esen, S; Kruttschnitt, J; Bilgin, Hasan Aydın (Wiley, 2004-02-01)
Reactive flow cylinder code runs on six explosives were made with rate constants varying from 0.03 to 70 mus(-1). Six unconfined/steel sets of original ANFO and dynamite data are presented. A means of comparing confinement effects both at constant radius and at constant detonation velocity is presented. Calculations show two qualitatively different modes of behavior. For U-s/C-0 greater than or equal to 1.2, where U-s is the detonation velocity and C-0 the zero-pressure sound speed in steel, we find a sharp...
The effects of platinum particle size to the efficiency of a DYE sensitized solar cell (DSSC)
Giray, Hasan Berk; Üner, Deniz; Department of Chemical Engineering (2010)
The aim of this study was to modify the platinum particle size to observe the effects on the efficiency of a Dye Sensitized Solar Cell (DSCC). DSSC was prepared as follows: On the anode side, TiO2 was annealed on the transparent conducting oxide (TCO) which is SnO2:F coated and a cis-bis (isothiocyanato) bis (2,2'-bipyridyl-4,4'-dicarboxylato)–ruthenium(II) dye was adsorbed on the TiO2. On the cathode side, platinum was coated on TCO from an alcohol based solution of platinum (plasitol) by thermal decomposi...
