In the present study, a new method to investigate all output parameters of a thermoelectric module has been developed. The new method bases on the thermoemf measurement of a working module and the comparison of the results with those of classical methods. The new method is employed in investigation of the parameters of a standard thermoelectric module of Melcor with production code of CP1.0-127-05L. The theoretical results calculated by the means of new and classical methods for the parameters of an actual thermoelectric module have been compared with the experimental results, and the advantage of the new method in approximation accuracy has been proven. Investigation of Porosity and Permeability Impairment in Sandstones by X-ray Analysis and Simulation
Iscan, A. G.; Kök, Mustafa Verşan; Civan, F. (Informa UK Limited, 2009-01-01)
Both porosity and permeability constitute the major parameters in core analysis. In this study, the variation of these two parameters along a sandstone core sample was investigated during formation damage. A water-based drilling fluid was dynamically circulated through the core sample for three different time intervals of 15 min, 45 min, and 60 min at 100 psi circulation pressure. The core sample was analyzed using x-ray digital radiography by sectional image approach. The differences in the porous media du...
Properties of BaYO3 perovskite and hydrogen storage properties of BaYO3Hx
Gencer, Ayşenur; Surucu, Gokhan (Elsevier BV, 2020-03-27)
In this study, Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations have been performed for BaYO3 perovskite with the generalized gradient approximation (GGA) as implemented in Vienna Ab-initio Simulation Package (VASP). The structural optimization of BaYO3 perovskite have been studied for the five possible phases: cubic, tetragonal, hexagonal, orthorhombic and rhombohedral to determine the most stable phase of BaYO3 perovskite. It has been found that the cubic phase is the most stable one and electronic and mechan...
Computational Fluid Dynamics Modeling of Pipe Eccentricity Effect on Flow Characteristics of Newtonian and Non-Newtonian Fluids
SORGUN, MEHMET (Informa UK Limited, 2011-01-01)
The prediction of accurate drilling fluids behavior inside an annulus is especially important in drilling engineering during hydraulic program design. The flow characteristics of Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids drastically change in the annuli when the inner pipe is eccentric. In this study, the fluid flow inside concentric, partially eccentric, and fully eccentric annuli are modeled using computational fluid dynamics. Computational fluid dynamics simulations are performed to investigate the effect of pi...
Application of vapex process for light crude oil
Kök, Mustafa Verşan; Akın, Serhat (Informa UK Limited, 2008-01-01)
The objective of this study is to investigate the applicability of Vapex process on Garzan crude oil. Experiments were performed with Hele-Shaw cell using two different solvents (propane and butane) at three different injection rates (20,40, and 80ml/min). For both Vapex solvents, oil production rates increased with injection rates for Garzan crude oil. Instantaneous asphaltene rate for Garzan oil showed fluctuated performance with propane solvent. Butane showed almost constant degree of asphaltene precipit...
Statistical Approach of Two-three Parameters Rheological Models for Polymer Type Drilling Fluid Analysis
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (Informa UK Limited, 2010-01-01)
In this study, 45 KCl/polymer type of drilling fluid samples were prepared for statistical analysis. Six difference (600, 300, 200, 100, 6, and 3) readings at standard Fann viscometer speeds were determined in order to estimate the rheological model parameters of our different models, as follows: Bingham Plastic, Power-Law, Hershel-Bulkley, and Robertson-Stiff. Parameters of the rheological models are estimated by explicitly solving the required number of equations simultaneously. Different statistical tech...
