Based on a literature review, our paper points out the need for an assessment model that could account social aspect of technological innovations generated in universities. Rather than quantitative metrics, using cases seems an appropriate approach to evaluate social innovations at universities to capture the richness of social impact. We further suggest the consideration of gathering information on four dimensions of social innovation to complement case approach: (1) the categories of beneficiaries who will benefit from social innovations, (2) the geographic location of impact, (3) the type of social innovations in terms of their output, and (4) the social benefit that innovation will bring. This paper ends with a few suggestions for further studies.

Social science doctoral students' needs and preferences for written feedback
Can, Gülfidan (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2014-08-01)
The purpose of this study was to investigate social science doctoral students' preferences and needs with regard to written feedback on academic writing and to develop a written feedback categorization. Social Design in Turkey through a Survey of Design Media: Projects, Objectives, Participation Approaches
Akdur, Selin Gurdere; Kaygan, Harun (Informa UK Limited, 2019-01-01)
The literature on social design consists of studies that report on single cases on the one hand and global reviews that are offered for theoretical purposes on the other. There is a lack of local reviews that report on social design practices that stem from peculiar political, economic, design professional and educational contexts. In response to this gap, we provide a review of 27 social design practices in Turkey from the last decade. The projects are compiled in accordance with social design criteria der...
The importance of attitudes toward technology for pre-service teachers' technological, pedagogical, and content knowledge: Comparing structural equation modeling approaches
Scherer, Ronny; Tondeur, Jo; Siddiq, Fazilat; Baran, Evrim (2018-03-01)
A large body of literature suggests that attitudes toward technology and its educational use are important determinants of technology acceptance and integration in classrooms. At the same time, teachers' Technological, Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge (TPACK) facilitates the meaningful use of technology for educational purposes. Overall, attitudes toward technology and TPACK play a critical role for technology integration and have been in the focus of many empirical studies. Albeit the attention that has ...
Infuencee Oriented Topic Prediction: Investigating the Effect of Influence on the Author
Yukselen, Murat; MUTLU, ALEV; Karagöz, Pınar (2019-01-01)
In this paper, we study the problem of topic adoption prediction for an author within a social academic network. The previous efforts on the problem use topic similarity and topic adoption of co-authors. We model the problem with an influence detection point of view, and propose that the influence on the author is an important factor. Hence, we define a novel influencee prediction based feature. To this aim, in this work, an algorithm is proposed to calculate the influence propagated towards the author. The...
