Conducting composite films of cis-1,4-polybutadiene with polypyrrole were prepared electrochemically. Polymerization of pyrrole was carried on cis-1,4-polybutadiene-coated platinum electrodes. The composites having different polypyrrole percentages showed conductivity in the range 10(-1)-10(-6) S/cm. Conductivity measurements were done by using the standard four-probe technique. Characterization of the samples was carried out by FT-IR, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) techniques. Temperature dependence of electrical conductivity was also studied. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.

Kucukyavuz, Z; Kucukyavuz, S; Ozyalcin, M (1999-05-01)
Conducting composite films of Poly(N-vinylimidazole) with Polypyrrole were prepared electrochemically. Composites having different polypyrrole percentages showed conductivites in the range 10(-3)-10(-1) S.cm(-1) Characterization of composites was carried out with FTIR and scanning electron microscopy techniques. Temperature dependence of conductivities exhibited reversible behaviour and confirmed the variable range hopping theory.
Preparation and characterization of conducting polybutadiene/polythiophene composites
Kiralp, S; Kucukyavuz, Z; Qasrawi, AF (2003-01-01)
Conductive composite films of cis-1,4-polybutadiene (PBD) with polythiophene, (PTh) were prepared electrochemicallly. Thiophene was polymerized on PBD-coated platinium electrodes. The composites with different PTh percentages showed conductivity in the order of 10(-3) (Omega cm)(-1). The characterization of the films was performed using FTIR, scanning electron microscope and differential scanning calorimetry techniques. In order to understand the dominant transport mechanism, the temperature dependence of c...
Electrosynthesis and characterization of an electrochromic material containing biscarbazole-oxadiazole units and its application in an electrochromic device
UDUM, YASEMİN; HIZLIATEŞ, CEVHER GÜNDOĞDU; Ergun, Yavuz; Toppare, Levent Kamil (2015-11-30)
Electroactive poly(2,5-Bis(9-methyl-9 H-carbazol-3-yl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole) (PolyBCO) film was synthesized to form a highly stable conducting polymer with excellent electrochromic properties. The polymer was characterized by cyclic voltammetry, UV-Vis-NIR spectroscopy and colorimetry. Spectroelectrochemistry analysis demonstrated that the polymer can undergo both p-type and n-type doping processes. The polymer has four accessible color states. Further kinetic studies demonstrated that the polymer revealed high...
Conducting polymer composites of polypyrrole and polyimide
Selampinar, F; Akbulut, Ural; Toppare, Levent Kamil (1997-01-01)
A conducting composite of polypyrrole with a polyimide as the insulating matrix polymer was prepared via electrochemical methods. The characterization of the composite was done by FTIR, SEM and TGA studies. Conductivity and solubility studies together with spectroscopic methods reveal that a chemical interaction between the two polymers exists.
Modification of polypropylene films for antistatic and anti-scratch properties
Kürkçü, Pınar; Bayramlı, Erdal; Department of Polymer Science and Technology (2007)
Polypropylene films are widely used in industry, especially for packaging purposes. However, these films become statically charged when they are subject to friction. The accumulation of charges in some applications can be harmful, especially for the electronic devices and can cause undesirable appearance due to the attraction of dusts. Furthermore, minimum susceptibility to mechanically induced surface damage is a desired property since scratches reduce the mechanical strength and the bright texture of the ...
