In this paper, an improvement to TCP-Peach+, called TCPPeach++, is proposed to improve the throughput performance for satellite IP networks with asymmetrical bandwidth and persistent fades. The delayed SACK scheme is adopted to address the problems due to bandwidth asymmetrical satellite links. A new protocol procedure, Hold State, is developed to address the link outages due to persistent fades. The simulation results show that TCP-Peach++ improves the throughput performance during rain fades and addresses the bandwidth asymmetry problems in Satellite IP Networks.

Cooperative Network Coded ARQ Strategy for Broadcast Networks
Tutgun, Rasit; AKTAŞ, EMRE (2015-06-12)
A novel cooperative automatic repeat request (ARQ) method with network coding is proposed for broadcast networks where single source node broadcasts multiple packets to multiple destinations. Upon a failed transmission, multiple relays cooperate with the source node at the retransmission phase, where network coding is used to combine multiple lost packets. A random access mechanism is employed where retransmission is done according to back-off counters. The proposed method employs the back-off mechanism to ...
Optimized Multi-Constrained Quality-of-Service Multipath Routing Approach for Multimedia Sensor Networks
Hasan, Mohammed Zaki; Al-Turjman, Fadi; Al-Rizzo, Hussain (2017-04-01)
Modern multimedia sensor networks impose strict constraints on both the delay and energy consumption when time-critical data must be reported to the sink within a limited bandwidth without any loss. Failure to transmit an event to the sink occurs for many reasons, including inherence limitations of sensors, power consumption, and reliability. We propose a mathematical model for a novel quality-of-service (QoS) routingdetermination method. The proposed scheme enables determining the optimal path to provide a...
Joint Virtual Machine Embedding and Wireless Data Center Topology Management
Butun, Beyza; Onur, Ertan (2021-01-01)
© 2021 IFIP.Data Center Networks (DCNs) have become critical infrastructures with the enormous increase in the amount of data generated. This increase introduces some problems in DCNs such as high cabling complexity, high-level power consumption, low space utilization, and oversubscription. Wireless DCNs (WDCNs) address these problems by decreasing cabling complexity and power consumption and increasing space utilization thanks to their incorporation of wireless communication technologies. Moreover, with it...
Diversity Analysis of Optimal SC-FDE MIMO Systems and Comparison with OFDM Based Transmission
Güvensen, Gökhan Muzaffer; Yılmaz, Ali Özgür (2011-09-14)
In this paper, we propose a general framework for both time domain (TD) and frequency domain (FD) block iterative equalization schemes for wideband multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels. The equalization systems are designed by jointly optimizing the forward and backward filters based on minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion. The equivalence of block iterative TD and FD equalization with decision feedback is established by analytically showing that the same mean square error (MSE) is achieved ...
Evaluation of Terahertz Channel in Data Centers
MOLLAHASANİ, Shahram; Onur, Ertan (2016-04-29)
Designing data center network topologies with the objective of minimizing cost, increasing bisection bandwidth and decreasing latency is a difficult problem. The solutions in the literature mainly concentrate on wired networks and minimizing wiring costs thereof. Only a few proposals address the benefit of employing wireless communications in data centers due to spectrum and bandwidth limitations of current wireless communication technologies. By using terahertz communication in a data center as a complemen...
