Computation of multi-passage cascade flows with overset and deforming grids
Tuncer, İsmail Hakkı (null; 1997-12-01)
An overset grid method is applied to the solution of single and multi-passage cascade flows with a compressible Navier-Stokes solver. C-type grids around individual blades are overset onto a Cartesian background grid. Overset grids are allowed to move in time relative to each other as prescribed by the oscillatory plunging motion. The overset grid method uses a simple, robust numerical algorithm to localize moving boundary points and to interpolate solution variables across intergrid boundaries. Computation...
Computation of Response Time Distributions for Messages on the Controller Area Network
Batur, Ahmet; Schmidt, Şenan Ece; Schmidt, Klaus Verner (2018-08-23)
The response time of messages is an important parameter for the design of in-vehicle networks based on the controller area network (CAN). The message transmission on CAN is affected by several non-deterministic factors such as stuff bits that are added to CAN frames depending on the message payload or changing phases among the asynchronous CAN nodes because of clock drifts. The resulting probabilistic nature of message response times on CAN is captured by the response time distribution (RTD) that quantifies...

Computation of Spectra of Large Networks
Erdem, Özge; Karasözen, Bülent (2010-11-27)
Many interacting complex systems in biology, physics, technology and social systems can be represented in a form of large networks. The networks are mathematically represented by graphs. A graph is usually represented by adjacency or Laplacian matrix. Many important features of the underlying structure and dynamics of them can be extracted from the analysis of the spectrum of graphs. Spectral analysis of the so called normalized Laplacian matrix of large networks has become popular in recent years. The Lapl...
Computation of transient thermal stresses in elastic-plastic tubes: Effect of coupling and temperature-dependent physical properties
Eraslan, Ahmet Nedim (2002-06-01)
The objective of this study is to obtain the transient solution of the thermoelastic-plastic deformation of internal heat-generating tubes by considering the thermomechanical coupling effect and the temperature-dependent physical properties of the material. The previously developed steady-state model describing the elastic-plastic behavior of the tubes is modified to obtain the transient solution. The propagation of the elastic-plastic interface for a given heat load is obtained; and the corresponding stres...
