In this study, effects of six bentonites on the viscosity and filtration loss characteristics of water-based drilling fluids have been investigated. Rheological properties of the drilling fluids prepared by API standards were determined by using high temperature (0-100 degrees C) rotational viscometer. The filtration losses of these drilling fluids were measured using high temperature (0-232 degrees C) and high pressure (0-2000 psi) filtration loss measurement equipment.

Effects of nanoparticles on the performance of drilling fluids
Bal, Berk; Kök, Mustafa Verşan; Gücüyener, İsmail Hakkı; Department of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering (2017)
In this master thesis, effects of nanoparticles on the filtration and rheological properties of water-based drilling fluids are experimentally investigated. Four different silica nanoparticles are added into the lignosulfonate and bentonite based drilling fluids. By using data obtained at the end of this research, filtration and rheological properties of nanofluids are analyzed and compared with the base fluids at different temperatures. Two groups of experiments are conducted in this research. In the first...
EFFECT OF TEMPERATURE, PH AND DO CONCENTRATION ON FILTERABILITY AND COMPRESSIBILITY OF ACTIVATED-SLUDGE
SURUCU, G; Sanin, Faika Dilek (Elsevier BV, 1989-11-01)
This study investigates the effect of aeration basin temperature, pH and dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration on filterability and compressibility characteristics of activated sludge. Laboratory-scale semi-continuous reactors, fed with synthetic wastewater were used. Effects of temperatures of 15, 20, 25, 30, 35°C; pH values of 5.7, 7.2, 8.2, 9.0 and DO concentrations of 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 5.0 ml/l were studied by keeping all the other parameters constant in each case. Results indicated that as the operatin...
Effect of cleaning process on combustion characteristics of lignite
Ozbas, Kazim Esber; Hicyilmaz, Cahit; Kök, Mustafa Verşan; Bilgen, Sedat (2000-01-01)
In this research, the results of a study on the combustion characteristics of Soma lignite before and after cleaning are presented. Non-isothermal thermogravimetry (TG/DTG) experiments were carried out for four different size fractions. Experiments were performed from ambient to 900 degrees C in air atmosphere at 10 degrees C/min heating rate. TG/DTG curves revealed three reaction regions. The first region is due to the evaporation of moisture in the coal. The second region can be called the primary reactio...
Effect of pressure on combustion kinetics of heavy oils
Bağcı, Ali Suat (Informa UK Limited, 2005-07-01)
In this study, 16 experiments were conducted to study the effects of pressure on crude oil oxidation in limestone medium. Karakus (29 degrees API), Beykan (32 degrees API), Bati Raman (12 degrees API), Camurlu ( 12 degrees API), Adiyaman (26 degrees API), Garzan (28 degrees API) and Raman (18 degrees API) crude oil from Turkish oil fields were used. The mixture of limestone and the crude oil was subjected to a controlled heating schedule under a constant flow rate of air. The produced gas was analyzed for i...
Effect of High Hydrostatic Pressure Treatment (HHPT) on Quality and Shelf Life of Atlantic Mackerel (Scomber scombrus)
ŞENTÜRK, Tugce; Alpas, Hami (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2013-09-01)
The ability of high hydrostatic pressure treatment (HHPT) to extend the shelf life of Atlantic mackerel (Scomber scombrus) was assessed in this study. For that purpose, fillets were subjected to pressure treatments at 200, 300, 400 MPa at 5, 10, 15 A degrees C for 5 and 15 min. The influence of pressure treatments on the levels of trimethylamine nitrogen (TMA-N) and thiobarbituric acid (TBA) as well as color changes was investigated. The suitable combinations were determined as 200 MPa, 15 A degrees C for 5...
