We propose a new method of synthesis for the preparation of nanocrystalline BaFe12O19 powders using the ammonium nitrate melt. The X-ray diffraction patterns of the calcined samples show the formation of BaFe12O19 at temperatures as low as 850degreesC. The effects of calcination temperature and time on particle size and magnetic properties are mainly studied. The magnetic measurements and structural analysis show, in good correlation, that the particles have mostly single domains but there is a tendency towards multi-domain behavior with the increase of the calcination temperature. The powders obtained by this method have better magnetic properties than those obtained by the ceramic method with a coercivity value of 4.1 kOe.

Synthesis, characterization, and electrochromic properties of conducting poly(hexanedioic acid bis-(2-thiophen-3-yl-ethyl ester) and its copolymer with thiophene
CAMURLU, P; Çırpan, Ali; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2004-10-14)
Hexanedioic acid bis-(2-thiophen-3-yl-ethyl) ester (HABTE) was synthesized via the reaction of 3-thiophene ethanol with adipoyl chloride. Resulting monomer was electrochemically homopolymerized in the presence of tetrabutylammonium tetrafluoroborate as the supporting electrolyte, in acetonitrile/borontrifloride ethylether solvent mixture (8:2, v/v). Copolymerization in the presence of thiophene was achieved in TBAFB/AN. Resulting homo and copolymers were characterized via CV, FTIR, DSC, TGA, SEM, and UV-vis...
PREPARATION OF Pb(Zr,Ti)O-3 THIN FILMS AND POWDERS BY THE SOL-GEL PROCESS
Ozenbas, Macit; Ergin, Umit (Informa UK Limited, 1996-01-01)
The present paper describes the preparation of Pb(Zr,Ti)O-3 thin films and powders from metal chlorides by homogeneous precipitation using urea. The rate of decomposition of urea is very slow and the particles formed are very small in size (micron-sized) and highly homogeneous in composition. The coating of the films was carried out on alumina and silicon substrates in an ambient atmosphere. Heat treatment temperatures in excess of 800 degrees C were required to ensure that the perovskite phase dominated in...
Modeling of Magnetic Properties of Nanocrystalline La-doped Barium Hexaferrite
KÜÇÜK, İLKER; Sozeri, Huseyin; Ozkan, Husnu (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2011-05-01)
In this paper an artificial neural network (ANN) has been developed to compute the magnetization of the pure and La-doped barium ferrite powders synthesized in ammonium nitrate melt. The input parameters were: the Fe/Ba ratio, La content, sintering temperature, HCl washing and applied magnetic field. A total of 8284 input data set from currently measured 35 different samples with different Fe/Ba ratios, La contents and washed or not washed in HCl were available. These data were used in the training set for ...
Synthesis and characterization of a new soluble conducting polymer and its electrochromic devices
Sahin, Elif; Sahmetlioglu, Ertugrul; Akhmedov, Idris M.; Tanyeli, Cihangir; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2006-10-01)
A new polythiophene derivative was synthesized by both chemical and electrochemical oxidative polymerization of 1-(perfluorophenyl)-2,5-di(2-thienyl)-1H-pyrrole (FPTPy). The structures of both the monomer and the soluble polymer were elucidated by nuclear magnetic resonance (H-1-NMR) and fourier transform infrared (FTIR). Polymer of FPTPy was also synthesized via potentiostatic electrochemical polymerization in acetonitrile (AN)/NaClO4/LiClO4 (0.1 M:0.1 M) Solvent-electrolyte couple. Characterizations of th...
Synthesis of Optically Complex, Porous, and Anisometric Polymeric Microparticles by Templating from Liquid Crystalline Droplets
Wang, Xiaoguang; Büküşoğlu, Emre; Miller, Daniel S; Pantoja, Marco A. Bedolla; Xiang, Jie; Lavrentovich, Oleg D; Abbott, Nicholas L (Wiley, 2016-10-25)
It is demonstrated that aqueous dispersions of micrometer-sized liquid crystal (LC) droplets provide the basis of a general and facile methodology for the templated synthesis of spherical and nonspherical polymeric micro-particles with complex internal structure and porosity. Specifically, nematic droplets of reactive (RM257)/nonreactive mesogens with distinct internal configurations are prepared using a range of approaches, the reactive mesogens are photopolymerized, and then the nonreactive mesogens are e...
