The present paper describes the preparation of Pb(Zr,Ti)O-3 thin films and powders from metal chlorides by homogeneous precipitation using urea. The rate of decomposition of urea is very slow and the particles formed are very small in size (micron-sized) and highly homogeneous in composition. The coating of the films was carried out on alumina and silicon substrates in an ambient atmosphere. Heat treatment temperatures in excess of 800 degrees C were required to ensure that the perovskite phase dominated in PZT films.

Synthesis and characterization of nanocrystalline BaFe12O19 obtained at 850 degrees C by using ammonium nitrate melt
Topal, U; Ozkan, H; Sozeri, H (Elsevier BV, 2004-12-01)
We propose a new method of synthesis for the preparation of nanocrystalline BaFe12O19 powders using the ammonium nitrate melt. The X-ray diffraction patterns of the calcined samples show the formation of BaFe12O19 at temperatures as low as 850degreesC. The effects of calcination temperature and time on particle size and magnetic properties are mainly studied. The magnetic measurements and structural analysis show, in good correlation, that the particles have mostly single domains but there is a tendency tow...
Synthesis of Optically Complex, Porous, and Anisometric Polymeric Microparticles by Templating from Liquid Crystalline Droplets
Wang, Xiaoguang; Büküşoğlu, Emre; Miller, Daniel S; Pantoja, Marco A. Bedolla; Xiang, Jie; Lavrentovich, Oleg D; Abbott, Nicholas L (Wiley, 2016-10-25)
It is demonstrated that aqueous dispersions of micrometer-sized liquid crystal (LC) droplets provide the basis of a general and facile methodology for the templated synthesis of spherical and nonspherical polymeric micro-particles with complex internal structure and porosity. Specifically, nematic droplets of reactive (RM257)/nonreactive mesogens with distinct internal configurations are prepared using a range of approaches, the reactive mesogens are photopolymerized, and then the nonreactive mesogens are e...
FORMATION OF YBA2CU3O7-X THICK-FILMS BY A DIFFUSION PROCESS BETWEEN Y2BACUO5 AND (BACUO2, CUO)
FREEMAN, PA; Özkan, Necati; HONNEYBALL, PD; GLOWACKI, BA (1991-01-01)
The preparation of thick films of YBa2Cu3O7-x by diffusion between Y2BaCuO5 substrates and a surface layer of a barium cuprate mixture (BaCuO2, CuO) was investigated. The influence of the substrate microstructure and density on the morphology and properties of the diffusion layer were determined by scanning microscopy and transport current measurements.
Determination of current transport characteristics in Au-Cu/CuO/n-Si Schottky diodes
Surucu, O. Bayrakli; Güllü, Hasan Hüseyin; Terlemezoglu, M.; Yildiz, D. E.; Parlak, M. (Elsevier BV, 2019-10-01)
In this study, the material properties of CuO thin films fabricated by sputtering technique and electrical properties of CuO/n-Si structure were reported. Temperature-dependent current-voltage (I-V) measurement was carried out to determine the detail electrical characteristics of this structure. The anomaly in thermionic emission (TE) model related to barrier height inhomogeneity at the interface was obtained from the forward bias I-V analysis. The current transport mechanism at the junction was determined ...
Characterization of c-axis oriented Y-Ba-Cu-O thin films prepared by PVD on LaAlO3 (100) and SrTiO3 (100) substrates
Ozenbas, MA; Gungoren, T (Elsevier BV, 2000-11-01)
In this study, high T-c superconducting thin films of Y-Ba-Cu-O system have been prepared onto single crystals of LaAlO3 (100) and SrTiO3 (100) by resistive evaporation of YF3, BaF2 and Cu powders and a subsequent multi-stage annealing. In the deposition process, two different methods were used: mixed-powder method and sequential-deposition method. The best quality films were achieved on LaAlO3 substrates by using sequential-deposition technique with offset critical transition temperature of 88.1 K. Charact...
