An intelligent software package to select beatings suitable for a given application is developed and tested for the purpose of improving design efficiency and elimination of human dependent expertise for conceptual design. The work includes creation and development of a knowledge base and a classification of bearings based on operating and environmental factors within the knowledge base structure. The selection process is automated by using an inference engine that is developed mainly for this purpose and a proper user interface is designed for engineering designers.

Implementation and Evaluation of Age-Aware Downlink Scheduling Policies in Push-Based and Pull-Based Communication
Oğuz, Tahir Kerem; Ceran Arslan, Elif Tuğçe; Uysal, Elif; Girici, Tolga (2022-5-01)
As communication systems evolve to better cater to the needs of machine-type applications such as remote monitoring and networked control, advanced perspectives are required for the design of link layer protocols. The age of information (AoI) metric has firmly taken its place in the literature as a metric and tool to measure and control the data freshness demands of various applications. AoI measures the timeliness of transferred information from the point of view of the destination. In this study, we exper...
An integrated scheduling and control model for multi-mode projects
Hazır, Öncü; Schmidt, Klaus Verner (2013-01-01)
In today's highly competitive uncertain project environments, it is of crucial importance to develop analytical models and algorithms to schedule and control project activities so that the deviations from the project objectives are minimized. This paper addresses the integrated scheduling and control in multi-mode project environments. We propose an optimization model that models the dynamic behavior of projects and integrates optimal control into a practically relevant project scheduling problem. From the ...
A Case Study on Measuring Process Quality: Lessons Learned
Dikici, Ahmet; Turetken, Oktay; Demirörs, Onur (2012-09-08)
Requiring solid engineering disciplines and best practices rather than human talents for developing complex software systems results an increasing interest in software processes. The quality of software processes has considerable influence over the success of an organization. Process quality measurement addresses an essential and largely overlooked aspect of processes. We performed a case study on the application of a process quality measurement method with the main objective of examining the extent of the ...
Investigation of BIM potentials on seismic resiliency of drywall systems during earthquake
İlipınar, Damlanur; Ay, Bekir Özer; Department of Building Science in Architecture (2019)
Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a promising technology on resilient design. The use of BIM technology could enable seismic design and installation of nonstructural elements. This study discusses the usefulness of BIM in seismic design and assessment of lightweight steel stud gypsum board partition walls (drywall systems). This study also presents the potential of BIM in order to disseminate the information about seismic demands on drywalls in reinforced concrete (RC) structures among stakeholders du...
Design of a variable five-axes adjustable configuration robot manipulator
YUCEL, AS; Ersak, Aydın (1994-04-14)
A robot manipulator design is presented in this paper supplying a few kinematical configurations in a single structure which is in the mean time, reconfigurable for given tasks and hence making the level of flexibility and adaptability much higher for changing working environments
