A microwave metamaterial (MTM) based on H-shaped resonator in a waveguide configuration is introduced and investigated both numerically and experimentally for X-band frequencies. The proposed model is designed and fabricated on both sides of the substrate and exhibits strong magnetic resonance at around 10.5GHz. Additionally, it has very simple design which improves and simplifies the fabrication process. Besides, only one single slab is used in the simulation and experiment which provides a reduction in the number of the required samples with respect to its free space and/or waveguide counterparts. The effective medium theory is employed for the characterization of the structure, and the left-handed region is identified using the simulation and experimental data. The measured results are in good agreement with the simulated ones which show that the proposed MTM operates well and can be used in waveguide miniaturization and waveguide-based applications such as antennas, filters, sensors, imaging systems, and so on. To validate this, sensor and absorber applications are selected and the simulation results show that the proposed devices operate well with a good efficiency under the defined conditions.

Dincer, Furkan; KARAASLAN, MUHARREM; Sabah, Cumali (2015-12-12)
The new perfect metamaterial absorber (MA) based on square resonator with gap configuration is numerically (for GHz and THz frequency regime) and experimentally (for GHz frequency regime) presented and investigated. The proposed MA has a simple configuration which introduces flexibility to adjust its metamaterial properties and easily rescale the structure for other frequency regimes. In addition, polarization and incident angle independencies of the proposed model are analyzed for the THz frequency regime....

n this thesis, RF sections of a multi tier instantaneous frequency measurement (IFM) receiver which can operate in 2 – 18 GHz frequency band is designed, simulated and partially realized. The designed structure uses one coarse tier, three medium tiers and one fine tier for frequency discrimination. A novel reflective phase shifting technique is developed which enables the design of very wideband phase shifters using stepped cascaded transmission lines. Compared to the classical phase shifters using coupled ...

In this thesis, multiple antenna transmission techniques like spatial multiplexing, spatial modulation and multiple active spatial modulation are compared in multipath fading channels. Maximum likelihood sequence estimation (MLSE) based on the Ungerboeck observation model is the optimal operation for intersymbol interference channels and applied on the mentioned multiple antenna transmission strategies. The performance analysis based on Monte Carlo simulations and comparison of the computational complexity ...
Design of selective linear phase cross-coupled dielectric resonator filters
Öztürk, Onur Ozan; Dural Ünver, Mevlüde Gülbin; Yıldırım, Nevzat; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2018)
In this work, a selective linear phase filter is designed in cross-coupled form using dielectric resonators in Ku band to be used as a channel filter in IMUX of a satellite receiver. Extreme delay flatness is required: 1.5ns delay ripple over 60 % of the passband and symmetric cross-coupled filter with all ideal inverter couplings realizing four finite transmission zeros (FTZ) satisfying also the delay flatness requirements. Design is carried out on the software program FILPRO, then optimized in ADSTM and t...
Analysis of slot coupled microstrip patch antennas

Method of Moments (MoM)/Green’s function formulation is developed for the analysis of electromagnetic radiation from planar rectangular microstrip antennas with different feeding techniques. Investigated structures are microstrip line fed patch antenna, proximity coupled patch antenna and slot coupled patch antenna. For all these structures equivalent problems are defined. Then, integral equations where currents are the unknowns are obtained from boundary conditions and by using spectral domain representati...
