This paper is concerned with the control of three-phase Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems based on a B-spline Network (BSN). A UPS must be able to maintain regulated output voltage in the face of all line/load disturbances. To achieve this, the control system of a UPS must have a fast transient response and a low steady-state error. Fast controllers cannot always maintain the required steady-state accuracy. Therefore, in this paper, a hybrid control solution is proposed. In the proposed method, a fast yet simple controller based on deadbeat (DB) control law is used to achieve the fast transient response required for UPS output voltage control. A B-spline based controller is added to the deadbeat controller to improve steadystate performance of the UPS system. This results in distortion free output voltage along with a fast error convergence. The system modeling and controller design for the proposed structure are presented in this paper. Simulations results are shown for verification of the theoretical analysis

A balanced scorecard model for the performance measurement of enterprise resource planning imlementation
Arık, Ayşe Gül; Onay, Lamia Zeynep; Department of Business Administration (2006)
In this study, the applicability of the Balanced Scorecard Framework, developed by Robert S. Kaplan and David P. Norton in 1992 for measuring performance at the organizational level or the business unit level, to performance measurement during the implementation phase of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is investigated. A model based on the Balanced Scorecard Framework is presented with sample indicators for each of the four perspectives -Financial Perspective, Customer Perspective, Internal Busin...
A NOVEL COMPUTER SOFTWARE FOR CALCULATING OPTIMUM LOCATION AND RATINGS OF A SHUNT CAPACITOR FOR LOSS REDUCTION IN DISTRIBUTION FEEDERS
TRIPATHY, SC; HARIDAS, M (Elsevier BV, 1994-02-01)
The different methods of analysis for the problem of installing shunt capacitors on distribution systems have been discussed, and a computer software is developed for calculation of the optimum size and location of a shunt capacitor on a distribution feeder for maximum reduction in power loss from standard distribution system parameters. This program can be easily used for a practical system consisting of non-uniform loads and sections of different wire sizes.
A Strategy to Evaluate Solar Power Generation Capability Based on Historical Data
Şengül, Deniz; Göl, Murat (2018-09-07)
The rapid population of the distributed PV systems brings concerns about system reliability and voltage quality of the power systems. This paper aims to evaluate the effects of those plants to the voltage quality and system reliability of power systems. The paper develops a statistical analysis method by developing metrics for a photovoltaic power plant located in Ankara, Turkey, using power generation data. The generation data involves all uncertainty associated with weather conditions as well as environme...
A programmable control unit for industrial applications
Güngör, Mustafa Kemal; Hızal, Mirzahan; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2003)
In this thesis, the automation of the long term and cyclic processes by using a programmable control unit is aimed. To achieve this goal, timing relays and various microcontrollers are investigated. PIC microcontroller is chosen to implement the control unit due to its advantages like high speed, Harvard and RISC architecture, low cost and flexibility for programming. Theory of the PIC microcontrollers is studied and a controller unit to be used in the mentioned processes is designed. Some features are adde...
A DC Bus Capacitor Design Method for Various Inverter Applications
Hava, Ahmet Masum; Aban, Vahap Volkan (2012-09-20)
This paper involves the selection and sizing of the appropriate type of dc bus capacitor for various applications utilizing PWM operated three-phase voltage source inverters, such as battery operated systems, PV (photovoltaic) systems, UPSs, and motor drives. It classifies the power converter topologies based on dc bus ripple current frequency characteristics. A general approach for ripple current characterization is provided. Based on these characteristics, the two capacitor types suitable for this purpose...
