Ultra sensitive metamaterial-based absorber (MA) which acts as a strong dual-band resonator is designed and constructed. The proposed model is based on symmetric ring resonator with gaps and octa-star strip (OSS) which allows maximization in the absorption at the resonances. Two maxima in the absorption are experimentally and numerically obtained with good agreement. The numerical studies verify that the dual-band MA can provide perfect absorption at wide angles of polarization and incidence waves. The proposed model can easily be used in many potential application areas such as security systems, sensors, medical imaging technology, and so on.

Polarization and incident angle independent metamaterial-based absorber (MA) which acts as a strong dual-band resonator is designed and constructed. Besides, a method to design single/dualband MA is presented in detail. The proposed model is based on isotropic ring resonator with gaps and octa-star strip (OSS) which allows maximization in the absorption because of the characteristic features of the structure. Reflection and absorption responses are obtained both numerically and experimentally and compared t...
Simulations for a novel magnetic resonator with V-shaped structures
Ekmekci, Evren; Sayan, Gönül (2007-01-01)
It is demonstrated in this paper that a novel structure which consists of V-shaped conducting strips may exhibit magnetic resonance effect similar to the split ring resonator structures. The simulations have been done using Ansoft HFSS v9.2. By applying a time varying electric field to the V-shaped structure, the location of the resulting resonant frequency has been determined and furthermore, the dependency of resonance frequency on arm width, arm angle, and dielectric thickness have been investigated.
Ultrathin thermally stable multiband metamaterial absorber design for solar energy applications
Mulla, Batuhan; Sabah, Cumali (SPIE-Intl Soc Optical Eng, 2018-01-01)
A dual band metamaterial absorber is designed for photovoltaic applications. The novelty of the design provides the absorption of the energy in an ultrathin semiconductor layer. Additionally, dependence of the absorption on the geometric dimensions, polarization, and temperature are also discussed. The results for the thermal characterization of the aforementioned design showed that this absorber operates almost independently from the environmental temperature conditions and the polarization of the light. A...
Wideband Quarter Wave Transformer Based on Defected Ground and Split Ring Resonator Structures
Yuksek, Yahya; Nesimoglu, Tayfun (2018-11-02)
This article examines a wideband impedance transformer based on a split ring resonator and defected ground structures. The transformer was designed as a 4 section binomial one and it provides a transformation from 50 SI to 100 Omega. Reversed "Z" shaped defects are formed on the ground plane of the design in order to increase the bandwidth. The design has been simulated using a 3D electromagnetic simulator which utilizes finite integration technique. Three distinct resonances are exhibited at specific frequ...
Simulation of glow discharge plasmas by using parallel particle in cell / monte carlo collision method : the effects of number of super particles used in the simulations
Erden, Emrah; Çetinkaya, Tahsin Ali; Rafatov, İsmail; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2013)
Mechanical amplification is achieved using a multi-flexure-hinge based compliant mechanism, due to limited displacement range of piezoactuator. In the design stage of mechanism, a comparison matrix analysis is performed to decide the best alternative among the possible compliant mechanism candidates. The mechanical design parameters of the displacement amplifier is determined optimally using the analytical equation derived using Pseudo Rigid Body Model, and the static analysis is performed using finite elem...
