A Permeance Netvvork Analysis (PNA) of the dynamic behavior of a three phase Switched Reluctance Motor fed from a full-bridge inverter is presented. The non-linear effects due to global and local saturation are taken into consideration as well as the mutual coupling between phases. All permeances in the magnetic circuit are analytically computed in order to reduce the overall computation time in view of a future integration with an optimization process. The switching technique is also integrated within the PNA model. A validation of the obtained results is provided using finite element analysis and experimental measurements.

FORCED VIBRATIONS OF TRIPLY COUPLED, PERIODICALLY AND ELASTICALLY SUPPORTED, FINITE, OPEN-SECTION CHANNELS
Yaman, Yavuz (Elsevier BV, 2002-2)
An exact analytical method is presented for the analysis of forced vibrations of uniform, open-section, single- and multi-bay periodic channels. The centre of gravity and the shear centre of the channel cross-sections do not coincide, and hence the flexural vibrations in two mutually perpendicular directions and the torsional vibrations are all coupled. The ends of the channels and the periodic intermediate supports are modelled with springs having finite flexural and torsional stiffnesses. Single-point for...
Optimal control in fluid flow problems with POD applications to FEM solutions
Evcin, Cansu; Uğur, Ömür; Department of Scientific Computing (2018)
This study investigates the numerical solutions of optimal control problems constrained by the partial differential equations (PDEs) of laminar fluid flows and heat transfer with the model order reduction (MOR). This is achieved by the three objectives of the thesis: obtaining accurate solutions, controlling the dynamics of the fluid and reducing the computational cost. Fluids exposed to an external magnetic field and the heat transfer are governed by the magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) and energy equations. Con...
Exponential Smoothing of Multiple Reference Frame Components With GPUs for Real-Time Detection of Time-Varying Harmonics and Interharmonics of EAF Currents
Balouji, Ebrahim; Salor, Ozgul; Ermiş, Muammer (2018-11-01)
In this research work, a multiple synchronous reference frame (MSRF)-based analysis method, used together with exponential smoothing (ES) to accurately obtain the time-varying harmonics and interharmonics of electric arc furnace (EAF) currents, is proposed. The proposed method has been implemented on NVIDIA Geforce GTX 960 graphics card for the parallel processing of all harmonics and interharmonics so that real-time processing of the EAF currents obtained from a measurement point of the electricity transmi...
RECONSTRUCTION OF PERMITTIVITY AND CONDUCTIVITY PROFILES OF A DIELECTRIC SLAB IN THE TIME DOMAIN BY DESCENT METHODS
ONDER, M; Kuzuoğlu, Mustafa (Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), 1992-10-01)
An optimisation approach is presented for the problem of reconstructing the permittivity and conductivity profiles of a dielectric slab from the reflected and transmitted field data. The problem is treated as an optimal control problem where the norm of the difference of measured and calculated boundary data is minimised subject to the state equation governing the system. The original constrained optimisation problem is reduced to the evaluation of stationary points of an augmented functional which is obtai...
