This paper presents a review study on the effects of sun tracking and cooling systems. So far, many studies (and case studies too) have been analyzed and evaluated in the literature. Existing studies show that sun tracking system is significantly affecting energy generation capacity of photovoltaic panel. Other effecting parameter is the cooling system which has small effect on PV panel power generation but this totally depends on the location of installation system. Combining the satellite imagery with bright sunshine hours: A review
Akınoğlu, Bülent Gültekin (AIP Publishing, 2013-07-01)
Present article is a review of recent researches on linking the satellite image data to surface measured bright sunshine hours. It first gives some basics on estimation procedures of the daily global solar irradiation on horizontal surface with the daily bright sunshine hours. Second, a satellite based model is presented briefly. Then, two recent combined models are reviewed and compared with the conventional models. The results on using one of the presented methods are discussed and recommended, for a coup...
CONSTRUCTION OF A QUADRATIC MODEL USING MODIFIED ANGSTROM COEFFICIENTS TO ESTIMATE GLOBAL SOLAR-RADIATION
Akınoğlu, Bülent Gültekin (Elsevier BV, 1990-01-01)
In this paper, a new correlation for the estimation of monthly average daily global solar radiation will be presented and compared with the correlations of Rietveld, Benson et al., Ögelman et al., and a recent formulation by Gopinathan. The overal results show that the quadratic form gives better performance in terms of global applicability. The new quadratic model should be preferred for the monthly average global solar radiation estimation when the data for bright sunshine hours are available
Comparisons and critical assessment of global and diffuse solar irradiation estimation methodologies
Karaveli, Abdullah Bugrahan; Akınoğlu, Bülent Gültekin (Informa UK Limited, 2018-01-01)
Defining better methodologies of accurate predictions of the amount of monthly mean daily global and diffuse solar irradiation exposed is of utmost importance in order to determine the potential for utilizing the solar energy. This study compares and discusses the main methodologies, databases, and software that are used in estimating the solar irradiation to be used for the short- and long-term performances and feasibilities of solar energy systems, especially photovoltaic power plants in Turkey, and addre...
The role of renewable energy in achieving Turkey's INDC
Arı, İzzet; Yikmaz, Riza Fikret (Elsevier BV, 2019-05-01)
The aim of this study is to analyse impacts of renewable energy sources in achieving Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC) targets of Turkey. INDCs as a part the Paris Agreement are based on national circumstances of countries on climate change. In order to reach the global goal of the Paris Agreement, countries shall monitor, update and upgrade their INDCs. The overall target of Turkish INDC is to reduce its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions up to 21 per cent from the Business as Usual (BaU) leve...
Effects of different laser modified surface morphologies and post-texturing cleanings on c-Si solar cell performance
Radfar, Behrad; ES, FIRAT; Turan, Raşit (Elsevier BV, 2020-01-01)
Performance of crystalline Silicon solar cells depends on numerous factors. One key factor is a surface structure which can restrict electrical and optical properties due to recombination of generated carriers and reflection of incident light. Surface texturing reduces reflection from a flat surface which increases absorption of light. Anisotropic alkaline etchants are commonly used for texturing mono-crystalline Silicon wafers which produce pyramid structures on the surface. Because of randomly oriented cr...
