The inorganic crystal scintillator CsI(TI) has been used for low energy neutrino and Dark Matter experiments, where the intrinsic radiopurity is an issue of major importance. Low-background data were taken with a Csl(TI) crystal array at the Kuo-Sheng Reactor Neutrino Laboratory. The pulse shape discrimination capabilities of the crystal, as well as the temporal and spatial correlations of the events, provide powerful means of measuring the intrinsic radiopurity of Cs-137 as well as the U-215, U-238 and Th-232 series. The event selection algorithms are described, with which the decay half-lives of (218)po, (214)po, Rn-220, Po-216 and Po-212 were derived. The measurements of the contamination levels, their concentration gradients with the crystal growth axis, and the uniformity among different crystal samples, are reported. The radiopurity in the U-231 and Th-212 series are comparable to those of the best reported in other crystal scintillators. Significant improvements in measurement sensitivities were achieved, similar to those from dedicated massive liquid scintillator detector. This analysis also provides in situ measurements of the detector performance parameters, such as spatial resolution, quenching factors, and data acquisition dead time.

Measurement of charm production in antineutrino charged-current interactions
Onengut, G; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2004-12-01)
During the years 1994-1997, the emulsion target of the CHORUS detector was exposed to the wide-band neutrino beam of the CERN SPS collecting about 10(6) neutrino interactions. A measurement of (nu) over bar (mu)-induced charm production is performed by using the presence of a 5% (nu) over bar (mu) component in the nu(mu) beam. The measurement takes advantage of the capability to observe the decay topology in the emulsion. The analysis is based on a sample of charged-current interactions with at least one id...
Measurement of the differential cross-sections of inclusive, prompt and non-prompt J/psi production in proton-proton collisions at root s=7 TeV
Aad, G.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2011-09-21)
The inclusive production cross-section and fraction of mesons produced in B-hadron decays are measured in proton–proton collisions at with the ATLAS detector at the LHC, as a function of the transverse momentum and rapidity of the , using 2.3 pb−1 of integrated luminosity. The cross-section is measured from a minimum of 1 GeV to a maximum of 70 GeV and for rapidities within giving the widest reach of any measurement of production to date. The differential production cross-sections of prompt and non-pr...
Study of W boson production in pPb collisions at root(NN)-N-S=5.02 TeV
Adam, W.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2015-11-01)
The first study of W boson production in pPb collisions is presented, for bosons decaying to a muon or electron, and a neutrino. The measurements are based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 34.6 nb(-1) at a nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass energy of root(NN)-N-S = 5.02 TeV, collected by the CMS experiment. The W boson differential cross sections, lepton charge asymmetry, and forward-backward asymmetries are measured for leptons of transverse momentum exceeding 25 GeV/c, and as a fu...
Measurement of the centrality dependence of J/psi yields and observation of Z production in lead-lead collisions with the ATLAS detector at the LHC
Aad, G.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2011-03-14)
Using the ATLAS detector, a centrality-dependent suppression has been observed in the yield of J/psi mesons produced in the collisions of lead ions at the Large Hadron Collider. In a sample of minimum-bias lead-lead collisions at a nucleon-nucleon centre of mass energy root s(NN) = 2.76 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of about 6.7 mu b(-1), J/psi mesons are reconstructed via their decays to mu(+)mu(-) pairs. The measured J/psi yield, normalized to the number of binary nucleon-nucleon collisio...
Measurement of the production cross section for pairs of isolated photons in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV
Chatrchyan, S.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2012-01-01)
The integrated and differential cross sections for the production of pairs of isolated photons is measured in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC. A data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb(-1) is analysed. A next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD calculation is compared to the measurements. A discrepancy is observed for regions of the phase space where the two photons have an azimuthal angle difference Delta phi less than or sim...
