Optoelectronic properties of transparent and conducting single-wall carbon nanotube thin films
Fanchini, G; Ünalan, Hüsnü Emrah; Chhowalla, M (AIP Publishing, 2006-05-08)
Optoelectronic characterization of transparent and conducting single-wall carbon nanotube thin films is reported. By eliminating the influence of voids and bundle-bundle interactions within the effective medium theory, we show that the complex dielectric response of the individual nanotube varies with its density in the film. Specifically, the absorption peak assigned to the maximum intensity of pi-pi(*) transitions was found to decrease from E-pi=5.0 eV at low nanotube density to E-pi=4.2 eV at intermediat...

Magnetohydrodynamic flow imaging of ionic solutions using electrical current injection and MR phase measurements
Eroglu, Hasan H.; Sadighi, Mehdi; Eyüboğlu, Behçet Murat (Elsevier BV, 2019-06-01)
In this study, a method is proposed to image magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow of ionic solutions, which is caused by externally injected electrical current to an imaging media, during MRI scans. A multi-physics (MP) model is created by using the electrical current, laminar flow, and MR equations. The conventional spoiled gradient echo MRI pulse sequence with bipolar flow encoding gradients is utilized to encode the MHD flow. Using the MP model and the MRI pulse sequence, relationship between the MHD flow rela...

Stochastic volatility and stochastic interest rate model with jump and its application on General Electric data
Celep, Betül; Hayfavi, Azize; Department of Financial Mathematics (2011)
In this thesis, we present two different approaches for the stochastic volatility and stochastic interest rate model with jump and analyze the performance of four alternative models. In the first approach, suggested by Scott, the closed form solution for prices on European call stock options are developed by deriving characteristic functions with the help of martingale methods. Here, we study the asset price process and give in detail the derivation of the European call option price process. The second appr...
